The year has gone by so fast, this being our first year opening up for events public and private. It hasn’t been a bad 1st and we are hoping that 2023 will be even better!!
This weekend we have our last scheduled private event for this year.
Most everything is set up and ready for this weekend’s event, just a few minor things to do. So today we are mainly working on staying out of the wind. I don’t know about everyone else but the winds effect me. It gets windy my sinuses and eyes swell up, even while wearing a mask.
Views this morning here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun got me to thinking. As many know Brent and I wrote A short story called “Stigma Towards Mental Illness” (It can be found on Amazon). In the story Stigma is a monotone (one color) color wheel. As Stigma goes along his path he meets people with mental illnesses and learns from them and gains color as he goes.
Life is like that, as you meet people you gain, we are all different. A those differences help us grow as individuals. If we all believed, dressed, acted the same we would not have free will, nor would we learn and grow. Be proud of who you are, and respect others, for what you and they believe, came from and headed to. As all those things make us all our own individuals.
But anyways that’s my sappy stuff for today. On another note Brent and I are proud to announce we have written another book, took me a few years but we finally submitted it to a publisher (fingers crossed). This book is darker, and sad. It has no title yet, but it tells a story of long term effects of being bullied.
Been a few days since I’ve posted. This year allergies have been kicking my butt, which triggers migraines. Anyways enough about that . Not much has been going on here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun other than a few campers and getting ready for a private event this weekend.
Oh we had yet another unwanted 2 legged visitor try to come into a neighbors property. (We think they are after solar and generators, one neighbor had a genny stolen) But thanks to all that came to the Haunted Hay (Hell) Ride we were able to purchase a few new fancy security gadgets to put up on all the roads to helpthe community with these type of visitors. It’s not a fix, but we all hope it helps. Enjoy the video of us running the ridge road.
Last night we had yet another uninvited visitor( No Dreugan the dog wasn’t the uninvited guest, he lives here). But he/she was on foot and ran off. We don’t understand why they are coming out here. A neighbor informed us they have been getting these visitors quite often.
Good note today was a beautiful day here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun , we were able to get a few things done for our private event next weekend. We are excited to be hosting this event and hope to have many more.
We may not be doing Music in the Desert. But we are open for private events and camping.
The season for outdoor Music in the Desert is coming to an end. We had a good first season and hope next year will be even better!! As we grow we plan to build an enclosed stage and deck over the Bluemoon.
We are open all year to campers and smaller events. As always, Contact for more info.
See you again soon!!!

The hardest part of starting a new business, especially something as unique as what we are doing, is getting your name out, getting people to know you are legit. We have come a long way so far already, as we grow we hope to keep adding and advancing. Building an enclosed stage, a deck over the blue moon. Finish the shower, more solar, plant trees, have gardens.
It’s all a process that takes more time than is sometimes available, but when it’s shared as an experience to others it makes it worth while.
Two years ago today, we were unloading the trailer at the storage unit so that we could drive the Lazy Daze up to our property. We unloaded first as at that time there weren’t any real roads to the property. We we’re unsure what we were getting into, no electricity, no water, nor any friends or family near for support.
But we’ve made it two years and many things have changed. We now have a road big enough for pretty much anything, solar for electric, and made many new friends some of which are family.
Less than a week left until the Haunted Hell Ride and Haunted Hell Ride After Party featuring Dirty Brown Jug Band !
Scares, bonfire, costume contest and music all in one night!
Come to the After Party in your Halloween costume for a chance to win an *I Survived Music in the Desert” T shirt! Winners will be picked by the audience!!
Directions and Early Bird Tickets for one or both events can be found in our website.
This morning on our drive back home from the Aftershock Festival . We think back to 2 years ago to the day, we were making our move from Minnesota to New Mexico.
We have had many people ask us why we are in New Mexico. Here is our story…
We had worked as site managers at an event center for 5 yrs. During one of our yearly events an attendant had asked us if we’d be willing to come to her place in New Mexico for the winter and help her get her property ready to become an event center. After some discussion we decided to do it. (Our plans were to go for the winter then come back to Minnesota, buy land and start our own center) But while in New Mexico working a realtor brought a piece of land to our attention. We fell in love right away and bought it. We had no idea if our dream would work. But we thought we’d give it a try.
This week we have lived on the land for 2 years, and started hosting events 5 months ago. It’s been hard but we are slowly achieving our goal. We couldn’t have gotten this far without the continuous support of some wonderful neighbors, both Minnesota, New Mexico event centers(You know who you are), Rhythmpriest Productions, and not least all our old, new friends and relatives. We thank you all for helping and supporting us, we couldn’t have gotten this far without you all!!
Send positive thoughts, prayers for us to keep working to achieve our goals of having a successful Event center and Campground. A place that is safe for all to come without fear of judgement or ridicule.
We again we thank everyone that has helped supported us!!
