Amigo hung out with us while playing a little bit of music for the neighbors. Nothing can beat some nice music and watching the sunset over the Ladrones while being in the middle of the desert.
Plateau Hame De Colquhoun’s JAFO Productions has a full array of stage setups to meet all your music needs. Plateau Hame De Colquhoun is set up for concerts, gatherings, weddings, reunions… Or just come out to camp a night, a weekend or more.
We are now scheduling for 2023, book your event before we are filled up!.
A small little get together at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun . It was a nice little gathering. We listened to some music by some wonderful artists amigothedevil Tuatha Dea and Brent of Plateau Hame De Colquhouns JAFO Productions sang.
Dreugan, Weillow and Amigo all live with us here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun. Dreugan is a 100 lb 2 year old Huskweiler that lives to talk. Amigo is our 6 month old Lab mix, he’s our thief he loves to steal socks and keeps stealing Dreugan’s toys and hiding them.
Dreugan has to stay tied while outside not because he takes off (though sometimes he scares campers) but because every time we allow him to run the yard he gets sick. We do let him off but we try to monitor him. He loves chasing lizards, yucca roots (we know yucca root isn’t the issue as him and Amigo’s favorite toy is a yucca root), we are thinking the issue is the lizards. He does have allergies so could be many things, but when he stays tied he doesn’t get sick as often. Plus he is very vocal (husky side) his looks and size tend to intimidate people.
We need some input.. We are working on this year’s event scheduled. We would like to hear from the community on what would you like to enjoy next as an event?
Remind you Plateau Hame De Colquhoun is off-grid private and middle of the desert with very beautiful views. 15+ RV drydock sites and many more tent sites.
Plateau Hame De Colquhoun’s JAFO Productions has available access for stage needs. To learn more visit our website.
We do not serve alcohol but can BYOB, we are also 420 friendly. We do not sell or produce 420. 420 friendly means if you bring 420, we will not kick you out for it.
Recently we’ve had people ask what it’s like living in the middle of the desert off-grid. Well I’m not sure how to answer that question, it’s not much different than living pretty much anywhere. There are hardships and joy. We have all or most of the modern conveniences, lights, water, heat, TV, computers.
I would have to say not having a shower is probably the biggest difference . Building the shower is not a priority and has been put on the back burner for awhile. Not because we couldn’t use it, but we can easily take long hot showers in town. Whereas with the shower we are building you will be required to do military showers, due to having to conserve the water.
Another is the solar, we aren’t able to run electric heat or AC on it. We don’t use many electronic devices like air fryers, coffee makers, and toasters to name a few. It’s not that we can’t but they tend to draw a lot of electricity so it’s easier not to have them. We do however have a microwave and it works but it is used for storage.
If you have a continuous cloudy days you do need to conserve your electric. Meaning no TV, fans, even small things like charging phones can cause too much of a drain.
If you are wanting to experience this way of life. You are welcome to come out and camp or attend an event here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun and see for yourselves!
Monday Night activities while living #fulltimerv and #offgrid is sitting and watching #amigothedevil playing in #cavewithnoname . when we stayed and visited the cave with no name we had just missed seeing Amigo the Devil. But we’ve made that up by seeing him at @meowwolf and @aftershock . oh and Btw Amigo our puppy is named after @amigothedevilofficial .#plateauhamedecolquhoun#artoftinyliving#midernpioreerism
Before Brent and I got together, I was constantly sick. My immune system is screwed up.. Once Brent and I got together we started taking extra precautions when in public. Wiping down groceries carts, having Alcohol wipes and wearing masks. We did this pre Covid. I have to say it worked, I wasn’t always sick, actually it’s been years until now that I got sick last. Idk why now, was there something at the places that we went sight seeing?
Being the first time I’m really sick (not counting just don’t feel good) since living out here in the middle of the desert, the biggest downfall is not having showers, I want a really long hot shower, or lay in a tube filled with steaming hot water. But since that’s not an option I’ll do steam from a boiling pan of water.
Our first Kitchen we had set up here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun . It lasted 2 months, we then upgraded to a heavy duty carport, and used pieces of the old one to build a shower house. During this time you couldn’t go into town and shower due to Covid. What we did was use an electric water pump (ran off the generator), an on demand water heater. The 2nd carport lasted until the end of January, shower lasted about a month.
We have come along way since then. Still no shower, but that’s okay we can go in now and shower at Planet Fitness (Los Lunas, NM) . We are solid now, no tarps, no carport for the winds to destroy.
