Offerings at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun

After purchasing our land Plateau Hame De Colquhoun in January 2020. We put a brick that we had written Colquhoun on using a permanent marker and placed it centrally on the property, knowing we would be headed back to MN to work and get prepared to move onto the property.

We made our move October 2020, when arriving one of the first things we noticed on the property was a dead tree stump. We placed this tree stump along with the original brick close to the central point.

Since setting these together campers, visitors have started leaving offerings I.E Painted rocks, figurines, flowers, jewelry. We ask that if you leave an item, take one to leave somewhere else, help spread the special atmosphere of this area to other places.

RV Repairs while at RV Park

We made it to the RV Park Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post to get some much needed repairs done on the RV. We are grateful the RV park is allowing the mobile Rv repairs to be done at their park!

It’s different being in an RV park with full hookups and a pool. We’ll get a couple days of being spoiled before going back to Plateau Hame De Colquhoun

While here we still have a view of home. #ladronepeak…and appreciate those who help keep an eye on things, you know who you are.

Getting RV ready to move after being stationary

I don’t know about everyone else, but after being stationary for months the RV gets disorganized. When it comes time to move it becomes a task trying to find homes for everything.

Tomorrow we’ll be taking the RV on a weeks trip. Which means I have to organize and find homes for the new and old items. Since February we’ve taken the RV once in May for an overnight trip to get it looked at. Finally got an appointment to get the repairs done next week.

Since @JAFO Productions is doing the sound at @B Town Bike Rally Belen New Mexico on Saturday we are taking the RV and staying in town, than onto a RV park in Albuquerque where the repairs will be done.

Plateau Hame De Colquhoun taking short vacation

The next couple weeks will be a bit busy Right now we are taking a short 2 day break and in Phoenix for a concert, we’ll be seeing Anthrax  Black Label Society

Brent JAFO Productions will be running sound for the B Town Bike Rally Belen New Mexico this Saturday July 30th.
After the bike rally we will be taking the RV for a much needed repair.

Plateau Hame De Colquhoun Projects and Report upcoming events

Not a lot to report.. We have been working planning the Haunted Hay Ride a community event that is being held up here on the mesa in October 21st. We also have a private event in November, and are working on doing another concert of some type here in the near future.

@JAFO Productions which is the music production, sound engineer part of the Plateau Hame De Colquhoun LLC, will be running lights and sound at an upcoming  @B Town Bike Rally Belen New Mexico where I’ll also be running a booth for @plateauhamedecolquhoun .

Other Projects: The famous shower, we’ve been working on for awhile, has experienced  some issues that have put the project on a temporary hold. We are hoping soon to start building another 5k solar system, The issue with this project is the cost of lumber. Which is causing us to find alternative low cost frames for the panels. We’ve been trying to find bigger pallets that the panels will fit on.

We also like to build a deck over the blue moon which includes a roof over the stage, again cost of lumber and lack of finding good shape, low cost recycled lumber, tin..

Modern Pioneerism is using recycled or inexpensive items that help us survive living off grid on harsh land that no one has lived on before.

When Karen is in heat.

Another warm day has come and gone.. Not much to report other than working on staying cool. We’ve had a few comments stating the heat isn’t healthy for us or the dogs, and that we should start the generator to run the AC.

I don’t believe the heat is causing us health issues, as long as you stay hydrated, in the shade and keep your body as cool as possible. We do all this, we and the dogs stay hydrated, out of the sun as much as possible.. We pretty much hibernate during the day. Once the sun starts going down and starts cooling off we go out, dogs go out and play.

Issues this last week the nights haven’t been cooling off as much. Which makes it harder to sleep, and in turn makes the heat of the day harder to handle.

Sure AC would be nice, but we also don’t want to be dependent on it. There are times we have to work during the heat of the day. My experience is when I have AC I tend to get sick when trying to work in the heat.
And for those that can’t find a rationale for living the way people did before AC…..you know nothing of the pioneering strength that builds character.
Not once were we complaining of agonizing “the struggle”….it was conversation that everyone is mostly experiencing around the globe…IDK, maybe to many people have just gotten to soft for hard work and harder living.

Plateau Hame De Colquhoun dealing with heat and solar

Since we don’t have AC, during the really hot days we stay quiet, lay in front of the fans, or run errands. But this last week we haven’t been handling the heat so well.. It’s not cooling down as much at night, which doesn’t give us a chance to cool off. But it’s not just us it’s affecting, it’s affecting the solar.

When it’s hot (Yesterday it was 124° feel like 118 and over night in the 90s) the fans on the controller and inverter run, which is okay during the day, when there’s enough light to charge. But at night those fans draw a lot of power from the batteries. If we leave the big fridge on overnight the batteries will be dead by morning. Luckily the fridge is gas or electric.

We have few options to resolve this issue, and have everything to do it. We need to get cooler days to build and work outside. Until then we are busy trying to stay cool.

Music In The Desert and dealing with heat!

The Music in the Desert ” Ladrones Quest ” here Plateau Hame De Colquhoun is over. We had a reasonable turnout, had a lot of fun and look forward to future events!

Day of the event we had temps as high as 110. With very little shade here in the desert, those temps made it hard to setup the gear, canopies. Luckily though around 11 pm it started to cool off. But one issue we had was once it cooled off we got tired. I feel asleep in the lawn chair. Music went until 3am. Breaking down wasn’t to bad due to the cooler temps. Now today the next day, it’s just as hot, we all are tired and a bit crabby.

What did we learn you may ask.. Next event we would like to get a good night’s sleep the night before (which we hadn’t as it didn’t cool down much the night before) and hopefully able to get a nap before hand. (We did drink a lot of water and Gatorade).

Saturday July 16 Music in the Desert at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun

One more day for Music in the Desert!! Gates open at 6 pm, come hang out, listen to music, sing, dance, roast s’morse, hot dogs over the bonfire, camp, drink, 420 friendly.

We are working on but nothing confirmed yet on having hotdogs and hamburgers available to purchase.

This is a free event.. BYOB, family friendly. I Survived Music in the Desert Tshirts will be available to purchase!

Donations of gas or funds to keep gas in the generator are welcome. Contact us for information.
