Well we’re here at 101 RV Park for couple days in Calhoun, Louisiana .
We’re on the fence on whether we like the park or not. People are quiet, stay to themselves. Many long term campers which is okay. The park could used cleaning up some, we were worried about plugging in as the 30amp plug is all burned up. We did put meter on the 50 amp and it was okay. Water pressure is good, though spigot is broken, and stand in mud to hook up. Get alot of road noise even though you’re not right next to the interstate…our site has some wooded area and a local cemetery to explore just past the tree line and really good cell signal.
We did walk around town a little, cute little town. Tomorrow morning we head out to a State park in Arkansas for few days before heading to Fort Smith THOR Elite Firing Range and Gun Club
Our view for tonight.. Tomorrow we head to Calhoun Louisiana where we’ll be staying at a campground for a few days before heading to Arkansas where we’ll be staying at #statepark then onto THOR Elite Firing Range and Gun Club for a night.

We head out today, slowly heading back home to Plateau Hame De Colquhoun . We still have a couple fun (hopefully) locations we’re looking forward to before heading home.
One of our personal requirements is that we have to “get” something from any place we stop for the night and any thing we do that we consider special. Each item is placed within the sketch book in the video. We try for stickers, brochures.. But we’ve acquired post cards, pieces of sticks, or tooth picks, even shells and a pecan we found on the ground at a Loves we stayed at.
Share some of the things you may do while on your trip, the quirkier the better.
Our view until Sunday.. Sitting here waiting out the winter storms that’s supposed to hit most our route. If it does or doesn’t that’s okay. So far we are loving the campground, we hope to make it into town to go to the Rosa Parks Museum at Troy University !
Early morning traveling tires you out.. Even after stopping and taking a nap.. But we are here Debellation Brewing Company enjoying a drink of their wonderful brews. We highly recommend the location and beer, very friendly, well worth a stop!!
Tomorrow will be another early travel day as we have a big jump (for us anyways)..
It’s now 2:00 in the morning and we are back on the road heading to our next stop. It’s a short jump this time and can’t check in until noon. Which means we’ll need to find a spot before hand to get few more hours of sleep before going onto our next location.
We’d like to share a few pros and cons for traveling this time of day..
PROS
Less traffic, road workers.
Roads are cooler easier on tires.
Better fuel mileage less likely to be stuck in traffic.
Most bars have closed, which means most drunks should be off the road by this time.
Gives you more daylight time at your destination.
Security of resting at a location during daylight.
CONS
Visibilities..
Wildlife.. we tend to travel at this time to bypass a major city and usually on major roads.. When traveling other areas we like early mornings just after day break.
Check in times tend to be later in the day. So you may need to find a spot to park a few hours.
Finding a spot to park can be both Pro and Con.. We tend to park before 5 in the evening.. which usually means we have no issue finding a spot.
BUT if check in isn’t until later you will need to find a place to park closer to your destination which means trying to find a spot during worse times.
Breakdowns, stops for supplies most locations are closed. Simple maintenance may need to wait for a store to open.
We’d like to hear your experiences, how do you like to travel..
Today we said goodbye to family and new friends before heading out on the last half of our trip. Tonight we’re stopped for sleep, to get an early run North to our next stop.
