Plateau Hame De Colquhoun Projects and Report upcoming events

Not a lot to report.. We have been working planning the Haunted Hay Ride a community event that is being held up here on the mesa in October 21st. We also have a private event in November, and are working on doing another concert of some type here in the near future.

@JAFO Productions which is the music production, sound engineer part of the Plateau Hame De Colquhoun LLC, will be running lights and sound at an upcoming  @B Town Bike Rally Belen New Mexico where I’ll also be running a booth for @plateauhamedecolquhoun .

Other Projects: The famous shower, we’ve been working on for awhile, has experienced  some issues that have put the project on a temporary hold. We are hoping soon to start building another 5k solar system, The issue with this project is the cost of lumber. Which is causing us to find alternative low cost frames for the panels. We’ve been trying to find bigger pallets that the panels will fit on.

We also like to build a deck over the blue moon which includes a roof over the stage, again cost of lumber and lack of finding good shape, low cost recycled lumber, tin..

Modern Pioneerism is using recycled or inexpensive items that help us survive living off grid on harsh land that no one has lived on before.

Desert weather…

113 degrees with no AC is not easy, sitting in front of the fan feels like you’re sitting in front of a heater. Floors are hot in the RV, even toilet feels hot. We close the shades to try keep the sun out, it helps until evening, when it’s suddenly hotter inside then out.

If it isn’t the wind it’s the heat… We have so many projects to finish, yet to hot during the day, few if our neighbors go out at night after it cools off. Our issue we’d rather get good sleep when it’s cooler, rather than trying to sleep during the heat. So we try to do a little bit in the evening and early morning. What have you found that works during hot days? I like to jump in water, but no water here in the desert.

One step further.. Desert Life

We love that we are finally to point here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun that we have moved onto the level of opening up for events.

So many projects we still need or want to complete. But we are slowly getting there!

We have a stage, first concert booked and selling limited tickets. Campers been steady, which we like a lot. The shower is one step closer to being finished.

Wonderful neighbors, we enjoyed hanging with them and watch the eclipse!

Talent No Talent Open Mic Music in the Desert

This is our second community open mic event. The first event was more successful than we could have ever imagined. So much so many asked us to do another one.

So we had a meeting of neighbors who all graciously come together to make this happens.

We all love where we live, find it peaceful, we’re not just neighbors, we are a family. As a family, we have opened our doors so other people can enjoy the unique atmosphere we have up here in the middle of the desert on top of a mesa.

Come up enjoy the day and come meet our family. Campsites are available check our website for more info on reserving your spot.

Bands bring tent, RV you get the night free to camp. You must contact us to reserve your spot a head of time.

Our Audio Engineer and MC is Brent he is the owner of Plateau Hame De Colquhoun . Brent has been audio engineer, vocalist for over 30 years. He had toured with a group called Jester, he has produced, co-produced, and written, done vocals for himself and with others. He has been part of audio engineering for bands like Tautha Dea, Zwaremachine, Wendy Rule, SJ Tucker, and more…

Finally a nice day! Life in the desert

We are little less then 2 weeks away from the Talent No Talent Open Mic. We had hopes of having shower and second compost completed by then. But weather has slowed us down (actually set us backwards a little). We are also trying to find plastic pallets (not the ones with the big holes) to use as a portable stage. If you know of any please let us know.

New Mexico Desert Life

Life in the desert in New Mexico can be peaceful, beautiful, yet full of adventure, stress, and sometimes sleepless nights.

Clear nights with more stars than you could ever imagine, sunsets behind Ladrone Peak, a bonfire to share with neighbors.

Dealing with winds, and figuring out water supply issues remain, yet the most pressing issue that causes sleepless nights is people that think they can come out and steal everything you have while you’re away. Yet what they don’t know is, they have caused us neighbors to become a family. To watch out for each other, knowing that we all will come when needed.

Quiet night Around the Bonfire

Quiet Friday night sitting around the fire! Been a busy week of running, and haven’t been able to get much work done here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun .

Always seems to work that way when the days are nice, we have the weekend, free but it’s supposed to be windy.
