Vibria’s 2nd Birthday: From Roswell Rescue Puppy to Pupzilla
Two years ago, a tiny puppy found on Calhoun Street in Roswell, New Mexico, became part of our family. Today, that tiny rescue puppy is Vibria, a 40-pound, intelligent, loving, stubborn, protective, den-digging, sensor-stealing dog we affectionately call Pupzilla. 🐉❤️ Her story began with an unexpected notification, a strange sense of timing, and a trip to Roswell that we never expected to make.
How Vibria Came Into Our Family
Two years ago today, I was looking through a Facebook memory of Litha, another puppy we had picked up on this same day years earlier.
Litha eventually passed away from cancer, so looking through those old photographs brought back a lot of memories.
Then something strange happened. I received a notification from a group I had never noticed before. In fact, I haven’t seen another notification from that group since.
Then something strange happened.
I received a notification from a group I had never noticed before. In fact, I haven’t seen another notification from that group since.
The post was about three puppies found on Calhoun Street in Roswell.
We had recently lost another dog because of horrible backyard breeding genetics, and we weren’t really looking for another puppy.
We had recently lost another dog because of horrible backyard breeding genetics, and we weren’t really looking for another puppy.
But I showed Brent the picture.
And we went to get her.
Sometimes the right dog seems to find you rather than the other way around. ❤️🐾
Why We Named Her Vibria
During the drive to Roswell, we started thinking about names.
Our other dog, Dreugan, has a dragon-inspired name, so we wanted something that would fit the same theme.
That’s when we found Vibria, meaning female dragon.
Looking back, the name couldn’t have been more appropriate.
Vibria may be incredibly friendly, but she has definitely established herself as the top dog around here. 👑🐉
Vibria Was Much Younger Than We Thought
When we first brought Vibria home, she was incredibly tiny.
At her first veterinary visit, the initial estimate was that she was approximately 7–8 weeks old.
At her second visit, the veterinarian took another look and determined that estimate didn’t make sense. She believed Vibria may have been only around 4 weeks old when we brought her home.
That also made her early growth even more surprising.
How Big Was Vibria Supposed to Get?
Originally, we were told Vibria might grow to approximately 15 pounds.
That estimate didn’t last long.
The later estimate was around 30–40 pounds.
And that’s pretty much exactly where our little Pupzilla ended up. 😂🐕
From a tiny puppy who could fit into your expectations of a small dog to a 30–40-pound female dragon, Vibria certainly had other plans.
What Breed Is Vibria?
This is one mystery we’d love to solve someday.
We suspect Vibria is some kind of heeler mix, but her veterinarian believes she may also have Carolina Dog somewhere in her ancestry.
Because of the dogs found and living in the desert Southwest, we’ve even wondered whether she could have some unusual desert-dog genetics in her background.
Could she have come from a litter of dogs living in or around the desert?
We honestly don’t know.
And that’s part of the fun.
Will We Get Vibria’s DNA Tested?
We’d love to have Vibria’s DNA tested someday simply because we’re curious.
It doesn’t really matter what breed she is.
She’s already Vibria.
But it would certainly be interesting to discover whether our guesses about a heeler mix, Carolina Dog, or other mixed-breedgenetics are anywhere close to being correct.
Vibria’s Personality: Intelligent, Loving and Protective
Vibria is an incredibly intelligent dog.
She absolutely loves her humans, and when we’re around, she is usually happy to give attention to anyone who wants to give her some.
But there’s a different side of Vibria when we’re not around.
Friendly Dog With a Protective Side
As long as her humans are nearby, Vibria can be everyone’s best friend.
If we’re not around?
Strangers need not apply. 😂
She’s affectionate and friendly with people she trusts, but she also has a protective side that makes it clear she knows exactly who belongs in her world.
Vibria the Professional Den Builder
If there’s one thing Vibria takes seriously, it’s digging.
She loves creating dens and has spent plenty of time working on hers.
But eventually, her den needed security.
We had a sensor that stopped working properly.
So Vibria decided to solve the problem herself.
She stole it…
And put it in her den. 😂
Apparently, if you’re going to have a private dragon lair, you need security equipment.
🐉🏠 Pupzilla’s rules.
From Tiny Rescue Puppy to Pupzilla
Two years ago, Vibria was a tiny puppy found in Roswell.
Today, she’s an intelligent, goofy, loving, stubborn, protective, den-digging, sensor-stealing member of our family.
We named her after a female dragon.
And she has spent the last two years proving that she was worthy of the name. 🐉👑
Whatever her DNA says, whatever breeds are hiding in her ancestry, and whatever she was before she came to us doesn’t change the most important part of her story.
She found her way to us.
And we couldn’t imagine our family without her.
Happy 2nd Birthday, Vibria!
🎂🐾 HAPPY 2ND BIRTHDAY, LITTLE GIRL! 🐾🎂
Happy Birthday, Vibria!
May your day be filled with digging holes, stealing things you’re not supposed to have, protecting your humans, and ruling your kingdom like the female dragon you were named to be. 😂🐉👑
We love you, Pupzilla. ❤️
What Do You Think Vibria Is Mixed With?
We’re curious!
Do you think Vibria looks like a heeler mix, Carolina Dog mix, desert dog, or something completely different?
Leave your breed guess in the comments and tell us what you see in our little Pupzilla. 🐾👇

Sometimes you never know who might show up for Music in the Desert — and this time, we had an unexpected four-legged guest!
While we were up in the Music Studio filming our Music in the Desert show at Ka-Hoon in the New Mexico desert, a wild fox was caught on camera wandering around the property.
And now we have an important question…
Did this fox actually book a campsite to watch Music in the Desert, or was he sneaking in to catch the show for free? 😂🦊
🦊 An Unexpected Music in the Desert Guest
The Music in the Desert show is all about live music, entertainment, and the unique experience of enjoying a show from the middle of the New Mexico desert.
But apparently, humans aren’t the only ones interested in the entertainment!
While the cameras were rolling inside the Music Studio, this fox decided to make an appearance outside.
We weren’t expecting to see a wild fox become part of the night’s entertainment — but that’s exactly what happened.
🌵 Wildlife in the New Mexico Desert
One of the things that makes the New Mexico desert so interesting is the wildlife that shares the landscape with us.
You can be focused on a live music show one minute and suddenly discover that a wild animal has wandered into view.
This fox was a perfect example.
There was no invitation that we know of.
No reservation confirmation.
No ticket.
Just a fox casually making his way around the property while Music in the Desert was happening. 🦊
🎶 Did He Come for the Music?
Now we’re having fun imagining what actually happened.
Maybe he heard the music drifting through the desert and decided to investigate.
Maybe he smelled something interesting.
Or maybe — just maybe — he had already booked his campsite and was there specifically for Music in the Desert. 😂
We may never know.
But we’re officially counting him as an unexpected member of the audience
🎥 Caught on Camera
The best part is that this wasn’t something we staged or planned.
The fox was simply caught on camera while we were doing our Music in the Desert show from the Music Studio.
These are the moments that make filming and livestreaming from the desert so much fun.
You never know what might happen next.
🌙 Music, Desert Life & Unexpected Visitors
Music in the Desert isn’t just about the music.
It’s about the atmosphere, the desert setting, live entertainment, and the unexpected moments that happen when you’re doing something different.
A wild fox casually wandering through the property during a live music show definitely qualifies!
That’s one of the things we love about creating from Ka-Hoon — the desert has a way of becoming part of the show whether we plan for it or not.
🦊 What Do You Think?
So we’re putting the question to you:
Was this fox a legitimate campsite guest or a Music in the Desert show crasher?
Cast your vote:
🦊 BOOKED GUEST — He came for the show!
🎶 SHOW CRASHER — He was sneaking in for free!
🌵 JUST A DESERT VISITOR — He had somewhere else to be!
Whatever the answer, we’re glad our cameras were rolling when this unexpected visitor stopped by.
🎵 Watch Music in the Desert
If you enjoy live music, New Mexico entertainment, desert wildlife, campground life, and unexpected moments, follow along for more Music in the Desert shows and videos from Ka-Hoon.
You never know who might show up next.
Even if they have four paws and didn’t buy a ticket. 🦊🎶🌵

Full Lyrics — Tears Fall Like Rain
Alone she walks down the side of the road Breaking the chains of where she’d called home Walking into the darkness away from the light Away from the man who made her his wife.
She doesn’t know just what it would take to have him understand, what for her would make a life that she could have, to feel love and need when what she receives makes her heart only bleed.
The only time he says he loves her is when he’s had too much to drink All from a romantic You’d never stop to think That along with the pleasure of love comes the pain Only now can she see as the tears fall like rain.
Staring into the sun, her eyes begin to tear Emotions run out she screams, no one can hear Memories flood into her mind, bring back the pain She stumbles he steps as the tears fall like rain.
The only time he says he loves her is when he’s had too much to drink All from a romantic You’d never stop to think That along with the pleasure of love comes the pain Only now can she see as the tears fall like rain.

Sandstorm Hits Ka-Hoon Campground in the New Mexico Desert
A sandstorm hit Ka-Hoon Campground, and we were caught trying to make it home before the storm arrived. 🌪️🏜️
We saw the New Mexico desert weather moving in and tried to beat it back home—but the storm got there first. We didn’t make it in time.
Within a short amount of time, the peaceful high-desert landscape around Ka-Hoon Campground was being swallowed by blowing sand and dust.
We Tried to Beat the Sandstorm Home
Living in the New Mexico desert means paying attention to the weather. A beautiful day can change quickly when strong winds begin pushing dust and sand across the landscape.
When we realized the sandstorm was moving toward Ka-Hoon Campground, we tried to make it home before it arrived.
Unfortunately, we didn’t make it in time.
Sometimes, you simply can’t outrun the desert.
The Storm Arrived Fast
The storm moved in quickly, bringing:
🌪️ Blowing sand
💨 Strong desert winds
🏜️ Dust across the landscape
🌵 Reduced visibility
🌫️ A dramatic change in the desert atmosphere

We tried to get home before it hit.
The storm won. 🌪️

LYRICS FROM LESUTH
Chorus
Misery… Oh… misery Oh… misery… oh… misery Misery oh misery… misery comes to me.
Verse 1
The only time I know my foe… my soul looks good on thee.
But bought these clothes with debtor bones hence of festivity…
Now when we ride among the fires I’ll cross the tethered sea…
The only time I know my foe my soul looks good on me.
Verse 2
Hi hoe hi hoe I have to say a lost boys ghetto grows…
Cause gal I know I’ve got a choice for mysteries of my own…
I’m all that I must pass away forever when I’m thee…
By long I do I love to say you’re my most ghetto rose…
