The Storm Hits Our Off-Grid Studio: Will Our Livestreams Go On?

Ka-Hoon Campground

The Storm Hits Our Off-Grid Studio: Livestreams, Weather & Life Off the Grid

When you operate a studio completely off the grid in Central New Mexico, weather isn’t just something you watch outside the window. It can directly affect what happens inside the studio.

Storms are moving through the area, and we’re watching conditions closely at Colquhoun Entertainment. Our scheduled livestreams are still planned, but severe weather can sometimes make it impossible to maintain a normal broadcasting schedule.

Our goal is to keep Morning Mirage, Music in the Desert, and Melodious Karaoke running whenever conditions allow.

When an Off-Grid Studio Meets a Storm

Colquhoun Entertainment operates from an off-grid studio in Central New Mexico, where weather conditions can have a very real impact on livestreaming.

Unlike a conventional studio connected to the electrical grid and surrounded by easy access to services, an off-grid setup requires us to pay close attention to weather, power, internet connectivity, road conditions, and overall safety.

A beautiful desert storm can make incredible scenery, but it can also mean that plans have to change.

That’s simply part of creating content from an off-grid studio.

Our Scheduled Livestreams

We’re continuing to plan for our regular livestream programming:

🌅 Morning Mirage

A relaxed livestream hangout featuring conversation, the morning atmosphere, and what’s happening around our off-grid studio.

🎸 Music in the Desert

Live music, conversation, and the unique atmosphere of making music from the New Mexico desert.

🎤 Melodious Karaoke

A fun karaoke livestream where we get together, sing, laugh, and spend some time with our online community.

Weather permitting, we’re going to do our best to keep these livestreams on schedule.

Why Weather Can Change the Schedule

When you’re broadcasting from an off-grid location, weather can affect more than the view outside.

Storms can create changes in conditions around the property, affect access on our rough mesa road, and create circumstances where livestreaming simply isn’t practical.

We would rather keep everyone informed than promise a livestream and discover that Mother Nature has other plans.

If weather forces us to change a livestream, we’ll let our audience know as soon as possible.

Follow Colquhoun Entertainment for Updates

If you enjoy off-grid living, New Mexico scenery, live music, livestream entertainment, and seeing what happens behind the scenes at an unusual off-grid studio, follow Colquhoun Entertainment.

Our schedule may occasionally have to bend to the weather, but we’ll keep doing our best to bring you Morning Mirage, Music in the Desert, and Melodious Karaoke whenever conditions allow.

From our off-grid studio in Central New Mexico, thanks for hanging out with us. 🌵⛈️

Birthday Karaoke, Craft Beer, and a Night of Fun in Albuquerque!

Ka-Hoon Campground

A Week of Fun, Friends, and Music

This past week has been a whirlwind of activity! Brent’s birthday was on Wednesday, and we decided to celebrate with friends by heading into Albuquerque for some Karaoke fun. It was a casual, lighthearted evening filled with laughter, good music, and a great way to unwind.

While planning the outing, our friends mentioned needing help transporting a BBQ grill and a bike back home. Initially, we considered handling it during our trip on Saturday for the **Advocatus Diaboli and the Grim Leafer Band** show at Black Wall Arts and Production Black Wall Arts & Productions (doors at 6 PM, $10 tickets!). But since we were already in that part of town on Wednesday, we made it part of the evening plans.

Our stop for the night ended up being ** Bossfight Brewing Company  **. It was our first time there, and we loved the small, friendly atmosphere. Brent and I aren’t big drinkers, and we always prioritize safety, so I told Brent I’d drive so he could enjoy himself. However, our friends offered to be the designated drivers, and after trying the **Watermelon Cider**, I happily took them up on their offer.

Let me just say, that Watermelon Cider was a game-changer for me. I typically don’t like the taste of alcohol, but this drink was a pleasant surprise. I ended up enjoying three of them! Brent found a favorite of his own with the **Black Magic Lager** and is already planning a return trip to grab a growler.

The night was made even more memorable thanks to DJ Tobbyriffic , who went above and beyond. When he learned it was Brent’s birthday, he got the entire crowd to join in singing “Happy Birthday.” Watching Brent enjoy himself, singing, and soaking in the moment was the highlight of the night. Even though he wasn’t performing as **Advocatus Diaboli**, it was clear he was in his element.

Overall, it was a fantastic evening with friends, music, and good vibes. If you’re ever in Albuquerque, we highly recommend checking out Bossfight Brewing—and don’t forget to mark your calendars for our show this Saturday at Black Wall!
