Life has a way of shifting priorities, and lately, we’ve been in full-on healing and doctor appointment mode. While there’s not a ton of new progress to report here at the campground, we’re still here—showing up day by day.
Between medical visits and recovery, our hands have been full, but that doesn’t mean the campground is closed. In fact, we’re still open and welcoming campers! Projects may be moving a bit slower than usual, but we’re continuing to chip away as energy and time allow.

This past week has been tough for us with a lot of personal things happening. We don’t usually share much, but this has been particularly stressful, filled with drama and a lot of questioning.
One thing that keeps standing out is how much some people lack **respect**. A few days ago, a neighbor came over, and while we were outside, we saw a motorcyclist going down Powerline Rd, which is closed off and impassable. He reached the end, turned around, and instead of heading back the proper way, he cut right through our property, ignoring “No Trespassing” signs and us standing there.
When we shouted that he was on private property, he flipped us off and continued to the end of our driveway. He then turned back toward us, but when Brent and our neighbor started walking down the driveway, the motorcyclist finally turned and left.
Now, if he had simply stopped and said he was lost or thought it was a road, we would have gladly told him to go ahead. But he chose to be disrespectful, and for what? Respect really does go a long way, and I just don’t understand why it’s so hard for some people to show it.

**A Visitor from the Skies and Reflections on Our Journey**
Yesterday, we had a delightful little visitor—a hummingbird perched on one of our security cameras. It was a brief but beautiful moment that reminded us of the simple joys that nature brings, even amidst the challenges we face.
The intense heat and recent false accusations against us have left us feeling a bit discouraged, making us question if we chose the right location for our dream. Our vision has always been to create a safe haven for all—a place where you can play, listen to music, camp, and, instead of staying isolated in your RV, van, or tent, you can socialize around a fire, watch a movie under the stars, or sit and listen to music.
In our travels, we’ve stayed at numerous RV parks, state parks, and town parks. Unfortunately, we noticed a common theme: most people keep to themselves. We, however, love meeting individuals from all walks of life. We cherish hearing their stories, seeing them laugh, and watching them feel safe enough to just let loose. We thrive on creating a community where everyone feels welcome and valued.
Our goal is to help people and support local businesses. Despite the hurdles, we remain committed to our dream of building a community that fosters connection and joy. We hope that more people will come to see the beauty and peace our space offers, just like that little hummingbird did.

Navigating Monsoon Season in the New Mexico Desert
Living in the New Mexico desert has its unique challenges, especially during monsoon season. Today was a prime example as we had to head out for water, showers, and a few groceries, all while trying to beat the next wave of storms.
The muddy roads made the trip especially slow, but we knew waiting for more rain would make them even worse. As we made our way back home, we saw a cluster of police lights. Approaching the scene, we discovered a pickup had rolled into a ditch. Our hearts sank when we realized it was someone we knew, a member of our community. Fortunately, he wasn’t hurt, and we were able to give him a ride home.
This experience was a stark reminder of the difficulties we face living here, but also of the strong community spirit that helps us get through these challenges together.
At Ka-Hoon Campground, we’ve been hard at work preparing for our upcoming live concert and Saturday’s karaoke and talent show extravaganza. Despite the scorching desert heat slowing us down, our dedicated team is committed to ensuring an unforgettable experience for all our guests.
With campers gracing our grounds almost every night, we’ve cherished the opportunity to connect with them and share stories under the starlit sky. Living off-grid in the desert has taught us invaluable lessons about the importance of community.
