Taking a Moment: Life Happens, But the Desert Still Calls**

We know it’s been quiet on our end lately, and we haven’t been active on social media. Life threw us a curveball with a recent medical emergency, and we’ve had to step back to focus on healing and family. We appreciate your understanding and support more than words can express.

Unfortunately, this means we’ll be canceling the **Open Mic Night** scheduled for this coming **Saturday**. We hope to bring it back soon, stronger and better than ever.

In the meantime, **camping at Ka-Hoon Campground is still open**, and we welcome all who are looking for a peaceful New Mexico getaway. Whether you need a weekend to reset or just want to enjoy the quiet desert skies, our little corner of the world is still here for you.

Kicking Off the Season at Ka-Hoon Campground: Open Mic Night & Upcoming Summer Hootenanny!**

Spring is slowly settling in here at Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center, and we’re gearing up for our **first small event of the season on April 19th**! This year, we’re trying something new with a **hybrid Open Mic Night** — both **in-person** and **online**. Can’t make it out to the desert? No problem! Join us on TikTok (details coming soon) and be a part of the fun from wherever you are.

We’ll likely start earlier for our in-person performers, then move online after dark. TikTok has a few limitations on songs, so we’re planning around that — stay tuned for finalized times and links!

Even though we haven’t made much progress on projects around the campground (thanks to the wind and a steady flow of campers), it’s been busy in all the best ways. Brent’s still struggling with his arm, but he’s seeing an orthopedic specialist this week — fingers crossed for good news and a simple fix. He’s ready to get back to using his hand and helping out more again.

**Looking ahead to July**, we’re excited to announce our **Halloween in the Summer Hootenanny** — an epic weekend of camping, music, and spooky fun under the desert stars. Decorate your campsite, join the campsite trick-or-treating, show off your costume, and even vend your handmade or unique goods if you’d like.

Saying Goodbye to My Best Friend: Weillow’s Journey and Final Goodbye 

Yesterday, I had to make one of the hardest decisions of my life. I wanted someone else to make it for me, but deep down, I knew it had to be me. 

**Weillow** has been my trusted companion for nearly **15 years**. I still remember the day I found her at work—a tiny, skinny puppy placed on my lap. She crawled up to me and refused to leave. In that moment, I knew she was meant to be mine. I took her straight to the vet, who wasn’t sure she would survive, but **Weillow was a fighter.** 

Over the years, we did so much together. She **attended college** with me, **came to work**, and even **joined me on horseback rides**. She was by my side through every milestone—including the day I met Brent. 

But cancer was slowly taking her from me. I did everything I could to keep her comfortable, but I realized I was holding on for my sake, not hers. **She deserved peace.** Yesterday, I helped her cross over the **Rainbow Bridge**, where she is now pain-free, running and playing with her best friend, Litha. 

Rest in Peace, my little girl.
