The Sun Sets, the Music Starts: Why Music in the Desert Now Streams at 6 PM

Life off-grid changes how you think about time.

At most venues, a showtime is decided by a clock on the wall. At Plateau hame de colquhoun, home of Ka-Hoon Campground and the Ka-Hoon Event Center, our schedule is set by something much older — the sunset.

Here at Colquhoun Entertainment, we power our livestreams using solar energy. That means when the days grow longer, our batteries charge later… and the show naturally moves later too.

So Music in the Desert now begins at 6 PM MST.

A Solar-Powered Show

Our weekly livestream isn’t a traditional performance. It’s a desert experience shared online. Hosted by Advocatus Diaboli and moderated by Melodious, the show mixes music, comedy, conversation, and the unpredictability of real life in the New Mexico desert.

The glow of evening, cooler air, and a charged battery bank make sunset the perfect moment to go live. Instead of forcing the desert to match a schedule, we let nature set the timing.

More Than a Livestream

Each week, viewers tune in for:

  • Live music performances
  • Karaoke & talent contests
  • Behind-the-scenes desert adventures
  • Spontaneous moments of humor, improvisation, and community

Whether you’re joining from your home or camping on-site, the desert atmosphere comes alive through the screen. The experience is as much about connection as it is about entertainment.

When and Where

  • Time: Every Tuesday,  Thursday & Saturday at 6 PM MST
  • Location: Streaming live from Ka-Hoon Campground & Event Center
    • Tiktok and YouTube Colquhoun Entertainment
  • Host: Advocatus Diaboli
  • Moderator: Melodious

Stay tuned for special shows and events throughout the season. Each livestream captures the unique rhythms of desert life, powered entirely by solar energy and the beauty of nature’s timing.

Looking for something different this Valentine’s Day?

Instead of crowded restaurants and noisy bars, you’re invited to a free live music experience straight from the desert. Music in the Desert returns with a special Gothic Valentine edition, featuring Advocatus Diaboli, Melodious, and Shamshini performing an intimate off-grid acoustic show you can watch from anywhere.

This isn’t a studio-polished concert.
It’s real music, real atmosphere, and real moments.

  • Original songs and alternative music
  • A relaxed, cozy atmosphere
  • A creative and gothic Valentine theme
  • Interaction with viewers in real time

Why Our Campground Has a Membership (And Why It’s Not an RV Park)

If you’ve watched our latest video, you probably heard the question we get constantly:

“Why does a campground need a membership?”

Fair question.

Most campgrounds are designed for temporary stays. You pull in, set up, stay a few days, and then move along. You might wave to your neighbors… but by the time you learn their name, they’re already packing up.

We realized something.

We weren’t trying to create a place people visit.
We were trying to create a place people belong.

At Ka-Hoon Campground – Plateau Hame de Colquhoun, we kept meeting incredible travelers, off-gridders, artists, musicians, and people looking for a quieter life. But the structure of a normal campground meant they had to leave just when friendships started forming.

So we changed the model.

What the Membership Actually Is

The membership isn’t a resort pass.
It isn’t a timeshare.
It isn’t an HOA.

It’s simply how we keep a stable community instead of a revolving parking lot.

Instead of strict campground policies, our philosophy is simple:

Respect is the rule.

We don’t want a place full of paperwork and enforcement — we want a place where people naturally look out for each other, share skills, and create something together.

What Makes It Different

Our members aren’t just campers. They become part of daily life here.

People garden.
People build projects.
People share meals.
People play music.
People host events.

We host regular activities including:

  • People build projects.
  • People share meals.
  • People play music.
  • People host events.

We host regular activities including:

  • Music in the Desert live shows
  • Karaoke nights
  • Movies and gatherings
  • Seasonal events

Some members stay a short time.
Some stay much longer.

The goal was never to build a campground.
The goal was to build a community where people can slow down and live differently.

Who It’s For

This place tends to attract:

  • Off-grid and solar living enthusiasts
  • RV and van lifers
  • Tiny home travelers
  • Creatives and makers
  • People escaping strict HOA living
  • Anyone wanting a quieter, more intentional environment

It’s not luxury camping.
It’s not a party resort.
It’s a shared space built on mutual respect.

Why We Made the Video

Because the word “membership” confuses people.

It sounds formal — but the reality is the opposite. The membership simply allows us to know who is here, keep the environment safe, and maintain a few real community members rather than alway constantly changing campground.

If you’re looking for a place to just park , we offer multiple platforms to book through

If you’re looking for a place to settle for a while and meet people who actually know your name — you probably understand immediately.

Living on a New Mexico Mesa: Off-Grid Life, Nature, and Freedom in the Desert

**Embracing Life on the Mesa: A Journey Back in Time**

Living on top of the mesa, where time seems to have forgotten, brings a certain magic to everyday life. Imagine sitting by the window with a warm cup of coffee, gazing out over the vast desert landscape. It’s easy to envision scenes from an old Western—perhaps a cowboy gathering cattle in the distance or a native hunter silently moving through the brush. Out here, imagination feels closer to reality, and the echoes of the past blend seamlessly into the present.

Some people might think our way of life is unusual; others might commend us for following our vision. But ultimately, this way of life is deeply personal and meaningful for us.

When we first settled on our land, we felt a profound need to honor the land’s history and those who came before us. So, we sought the ancestors’ approval, asking them to protect and guide us as we embarked on this journey. Our promise to them—and to ourselves—was to care for the land, respecting its natural beauty and spirit.

In creating our off-grid campground and event center, we wanted to offer more than a simple place to stay. We envisioned a haven where people could truly be themselves, free from the judgments and confines of conventional life. A place where like-minded individuals could gather, form connections, and build a small, supportive community.

Life on the mesa isn’t without its challenges. But every gust of wind and every grain of sand carries with it a story, a reminder that we’re part of something larger. Our goal is to share that experience with others, offering a place of belonging and freedom, rooted in respect for the land and each other.

So, whether you’re a traveler seeking solitude or a soul in search of community, we invite you to come and experience the mesa—a place where history, nature, and freedom unite.

Experience Unforgettable Off-Grid Adventures at Ka-Hoon Campground & Event Center!

### Life at Ka-Hoon Campground: Helping Hands and Community Spirit

The past couple of days have been busy, but in the best way possible. Between assisting campers, rehearsing, and giving tours, our days are filled with activity and purpose. We love being part of this vibrant community and helping out wherever we can.

Just yesterday, we lent a hand to a neighbor who needed help towing his truck to a local mechanic. Today, we’re running errands with another neighbor to pick up concrete and other building supplies for his new home. It’s moments like these that make us appreciate the close-knit community we’ve built here.

For those unfamiliar with our journey to New Mexico, check out our early YouTube videos to see how it all began. We originally came here to help a lady clean up her property so she could host events. Now, she’s invited us back for a visit and some work. We’re looking forward to camping out there for a few days and enjoying some time in nature. Although some think we’re camping full-time, for us, living here is more than just camping—it’s a lifestyle we cherish.

If you happen to stop by the Love’s Travel Stops  in Belen and see Anne working, be sure to say hello! Buy something, mention that you saw this post, and if you leave her a note with your name, email, or phone number, you’ll be entered into a drawing for a free “I Survived Music in the Desert” T-shirt. The winner will be announced at the Halloween Hootenanny!

Thank you for being part of our community and supporting our journey. We couldn’t do it without you!
