**1. Music in the Desert Talent Show & Karaoke Night Recap**
Our August **Music in the Desert Talent Show and Karaoke Night** was a hit! We had a fantastic turnout with some amazing performances under the stars. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make the night a success. We’re already looking forward to the next one on **Saturday, September 14th**—mark your calendars!
**2. Surviving the Summer Heat**
The desert heat has been intense this year, but we’re managing to stay cool with some creative solutions, like bringing our wind tunnel fan from the music studio into the RV. Surviving the Desert Heat: Behind the Scenes at KaHoon Campground
**Surviving the Heat and Looking Forward to Our Members Weekend**
This year’s heat has been relentless. Normally, we can manage, but with temperatures soaring early in the year and showing no signs of letting up, it’s been a real challenge. Yesterday, we decided to bring in the big wind tunnel fan from our music studio to help cool down the RV. It made a difference—while it was a scorching 115°F outside, we managed to keep it at 92°F inside. In the evenings, when the temperature finally drops, it’s actually cooler outside than in. We often sit outside to cool off, but by then, the heat of the day has left us exhausted. Not complaining, but… well, maybe just a little!

Despite the heat, we’re looking forward to our upcoming Members Weekend. Each month, we host a members-only event where camping is free, and members get to decide on the activities. **Surviving the New Mexico Heat: Preparing for the Music in the Desert Talent Show**
Today, the New Mexico desert heat was intense as ever, making it a challenge to get through our daily tasks. With temperatures soaring, exhaustion set in quickly, and by the time the sun started to set, we were already worn out. But with the excitement of the upcoming **Music in the Desert Talent Show**, **Karaoke**, **Cosplay Contest**, and **Anime Screening** tomorrow, we pushed through to ensure everything is ready.
### Prepping for the Event
Despite the heat, we managed to accomplish quite a bit. We tackled some of the necessary mowing—not all of it, but just enough to prepare for tomorrow’s event. We also installed lights on the **Bothy Kitchen** top, giving it a welcoming glow for the evening festivities.

Once the temperatures drop this evening, we’ll finish clearing the area for the talent show and karaoke. The anticipation of seeing everyone’s creativity and talent under the desert stars is keeping us motivated!

1984 F250 Pickup Troubles: How Our Desert Neighbors Saved the Day!
**The Unexpected Support of Desert Neighbors: Our 1984 F250 Pickup Adventure**
A few weeks ago, our 1984 F250 diesel pickup broke down in the post office parking lot. Thanks to a generous neighbor, we were towed home and began an intense search for the issue. Despite replacing the starter solenoid, neutral safety switch, and repairing gears on the ignition, the truck still refused to start.
Our neighbor’s research led to the discovery of an elusive “ignition brain” specific to the 1984 model. Although he’d only heard about it once before, replacing this component finally got the truck running. We’re incredibly grateful for the support of our desert neighbors.
Living in a larger town, we often felt judged and isolated despite being close to others. In our small desert community, we’ve found a sense of acceptance and belonging that we hadn’t experienced before. While there have been a few negative encounters, they don’t overshadow the genuine connections we’ve made. Our desert home has proven to be a place of true community and support.
