It’s day 2 of the Nomad Gathering in the Desert , We have a nice turn out so far. It’s not too late to register for today and tomorrow until noon!

Today’s schedule

Noon Meeting of the minds, coming together and plan next year’s Nomad Gathering.

BINGO has moved to 4 pm, prizes will be determined by numbers of people that play.

Live music starts at 7 pm

Day 1 of the Nomad Gathering in the Desert!

May 19, 2023 Ka-Hoon Campground

Well today is the first of the Nomad Gathering in the Desert The roads are dry, not graded, but dry. We did get a few sprinkles this morning, but not enough to do anything but settle the dust a little. .

Today’s schedule;

Gates open at 10 am. Make sure to stop by the store and register before parking in a campsite.

3pm open meeting
4pm Talent Show
The movie “Off the Map” starts at dusk

Westland Meadows will be serving Dutch oven dinner today.

Saturday and Sunday they’ll be offering Breakfast.

Tomorrow dinner personal pizzas!

Online registration closes at 10 am. You can purchase your registration at Dusty Nail General Store today and tomorrow until 4pm.

Nomad Gathering in the Desert starts Tomorrow

May 18, 2023May 18, 2023 Ka-Hoon Campground

We been busy here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun getting ready for tomorrow Friday May 19th the first day of the Nomad Gathering in the Desert ! Gates open 10 am, registration can be purchased at the Dusty Nail General Store or through the website until 10 am tomorrow!

Make sure to stop by the Dusty Nail to register and get your arm band.

Tomorrow 3 pm will be the open meeting followed by the Talent Show. Movie “Off the Map” will be playing at Dusk. We are hopeful to have a bonfire during the movie.

Make sure to bring chairs!

Noon Saturday Gathering of the minds, planning next years Nomad Gathering

BINGO on Saturday starts at 1:30 its $5.00 to play. Prizes determined by number of players.

Bring chair,hard surface for your cards and pen, pencil or marker.

Don’t forget about the Live music Saturday night with Jer Killinger Singer/Songwriter and J5th & the 77 Riders !

Getting ready for the Nomad Gathering in the Desert

May 16, 2023 Ka-Hoon Campground

Mowing and getting ready for the Nomad Gathering in the Desert in 3 days!! We ended up push mowing as the rider has a flat tire and needs to go into the tire shop to get fixed. It is now fixed and we are hopeful on mowing the rest with the rider and using the push for the trim.

If you plan to purchase your registration when you arrive park in the parking lot and walk up to the Dusty Nail General Store to register. We will direct you from there on where to park. If you are pre-registered we will send you an email with your designated campsite, park first then come to the store to sign in and get your arm band. You can still register through the website.

Road update

The road still has not been graded. The wind has caused about a 1/2 mile of sandy washboard area. Take your time through that area, rest of the road is normal washboard and dips, easily passable for all vehicles.

Silent Auction

Silent Auction will be held this Sunday during the Nomad Gathering all funds from the auction goes towards the community here on the mesa for security and roads. If you have an item you would like to donate please bring it Friday May 19th. Items and sheets will be out until Sunday.

Dusty Nails General Store has donated your choice of one stainless steel ring, or one build your own Charm necklace, bracelet or keychain.

Plateau Hame De Colquhoun will be donating one 2 night stay.

Road update:

We have requested to have the road graded by Friday but as before this may not happen and is beyond our control. The winds have created about a 1/2 mile stretch that is soft washboard. Take your time through that 1/2 mile part.

Happy Mother’s Day!

May 14, 2023 Ka-Hoon Campground

We like to wish Happy Mother’s Day to furry and non-furry mothers!

We are only 5 more days until the Nomad Gathering in the Desert ! Furry and non-furry furry kids are welcome, ages 10 and under are Free!!

Make sure to fill your fresh water tanks, coolers, empty your black, grey tanks, bring your food, ice, lawn chairs, instruments, drinks alcohol, and your 420!

Gates open Friday at 10 am, 3PM is the opening meeting, followed by the talent show and Movie under the stars “Off the Map” at dusk. We will have a bonfire (weather permitting). If you have a drum bring it out and drum, sing around the fire pit!

Saturday at noon will be a meeting of the minds to prepare for next year’s Nomad Gathering all are welcome to participate.

Followed by BINGO $5.00 a card prize will be determined by how many cards are sold.

Saturday night will be LIVE music by two local wonderful bands!

Followed by sitting around the firepit, playing drums, talking, singing and enjoying the stars.

Work to do, no Time to do it.

Ever notice when you have a lot to do something gets in the way? Weather, Drs appointments, other commitments. This is our issue this week, days we have available to get the stuff done here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun it’s really windy, raining. Days it’s nice you have commitments. Never fails for us, today so far is nice, but we are having rehearsal for the Round House Rock show tomorrow. Brent is singing a few songs and running sound. Anne and I are Roadies or so the musicians and actors call us. The show did sell out!

Busy Days Ahead

May 11, 2023 Ka-Hoon Campground

We have so much to get done by next weekend. Between us getting sick, weather, rehearsal and other commitments we haven’t been able to achieve our goal of having the shower up and going by the Nomad Gathering in the Desert . The shower is the one thing we keep putting on the back burner. It will get done. We have everything but one more IBC tote to do it. Just need the time, weather to work with us.

The last couple weeks we’ve been busy helping and running sound, rehearsing for a local group. “Round House Rock” a current events musical comedy theater that will be performing this Saturday May 13 at the Center For Ageless Living !

With that, and other events out of the way, next week we’ll be hitting it hard to get ready. Mowing, signage, preparing the stage and more.

Make sure to purchase your registration so we can assign campsites according to your size needed. You are welcome to buy First Come First Serve registration at the Dusty Nail General Store upon your arrival, but remember these are for any sites that may not have been reserved and camping in the Parking lot. If you’d like to be closer to the activity you will need to reserve your site.

Make sure to come with your water full, black/ grey tanks empty. Prepare for the road, make sure everything is secure. We have not pulled a 5th wheel in personally but been told to take your time. TT, Class C, A, any other vehicles, slow is not always better especially over the washboards. We’ve found in our 37 ft Class A, our 26 ft Class C and pulling trailers around 30 mph is best ( you’ll have to play with it and find the right speed). Little speed helps float over the top, you go slow you’ll sink into each rib. You’ll still feel the washboards are just not as bad. Swerving back and forth helps too.

If we get some rain, we are hoping the neighbor will grade the road. Winds cause much of the wash boards, without rain the road is too hard to grade with a tractor. Though these are county roads, the county won’t maintain them, and we all try with what equipment we have, which is a small tractor and a blade.

There are no big rocks or hills to worry about. We drive a Kia, have had Mini Cooper, Honda Civic, couple 44 ft 5th wheels and smaller, many different sizes of Class A and Cs, tear drops, vans, trucks all drive through it all just fine.

The Nomad Gathering is a weekend full of fun, Music, Movie under the stars, bonfires, games, meeting new people, vendors, food vendor!

Successful Camping and Movie Night!

Our first Camping and Movie had a nice turn out. We weren’t expecting much due to it being a Monday night. But we had 12 people attend.

The stars were beautiful, we weren’t able to have a fire due to wind, but we seen many shooting stars. We can wait until June 17th to watch the second Avatar!

To help keep costs down for events we are not paying for advertising, make sure to tell your family, friends or anyone that might be interested in attending an event, as well as posting/sharing to groups, clubs and social media pages.

The Nomad Gathering in the Desert is little over a week away. Register online through our website, or come to Plateau Hame De Colquhoun and purchase your registration at the Dusty Nail General Store ! Kids 10 and Under are Free!

Friday Night:

3 PM Nomad Opening meeting. Come together and get to know each other. If you’d like to host an event, this is the time to add it to the schedule.
4 pm Talent no Talent Show
Silent Auction setup. Donate an item. All monies go towards the betterment of the roads to and around Plateau Hame De Colquhoun.
Dusk Outdoor Movie “Off The MAP” Sequestered on a ranch deep in the recesses of rural New Mexico, a part-Hopi woman (Joan Allen), her catatonic depressed husband (Sam Elliot) & their precocious 11-year old daughter (Valentina de Angelis) live off the land…
Bonfire S’mores makings (S’mores kits can be purchased at the Plateau Hame De Colquhoun Booth). Weather permitting
