First Snowfall at Ka-Hoon Campground ❄️ Desert Turns White | Off-Grid Time-Lapse Magic

First Snow of the Season at Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center

There’s something quietly magical about witnessing the **first snow of the season in the New Mexico desert** — especially when you live off-grid. At **Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center**, the landscape transformed overnight as soft snow settled across the desert floor, creating a rare and beautiful contrast between rugged earth and winter calm.

This **time-lapse snowfall video** captures that moment of transition — the stillness, the shifting light, and the reminder that even the harsh desert has its gentle moments.

Living off-grid means being deeply connected to the elements. When the first snow arrives, it changes everything: the air grows quieter, the desert feels softer, and time seems to slow down. These moments are why Ka-Hoon Campground exists — to offer a place where people can experience nature honestly, without filters or distractions.

Desert Snowfall Meets Off-Grid Life

Snow in the desert is never guaranteed, which makes it even more special when it happens. For those living and visiting off-grid, winter brings challenges, but also incredible beauty. This snowfall highlights the resilience required to live close to nature — and the reward that comes with it.

Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center is more than a place to camp. It’s a creative and alternative desert community built around:

* off-grid living
* music and events
* quiet desert reflection
* independence and simplicity

Whether you’re visiting for camping, staying long-term, or following along online, moments like this snowfall connect us all to the land we share.

At **Plateau Hame de Colquhoun**, off-grid living isn’t about isolation. It’s about **intentional living**, mutual respect, and creating a space where people can be themselves without judgment.

Some days the desert is calm and peaceful. Other days it reminds you who’s really in charge. Either way, we show up, adapt, and keep moving forward — and that’s exactly what today’s talk is about.

I Asked for a Driver’s License… My Dogs Took the Wheel and Ignored Me Completely 🚗🐕😂

😂🚗 **When You Ask for a Driver’s License…**

Dreugan is behind the wheel like *“I know what I’m doing.”*
Lurch is riding shotgun, clearly the emotional support passenger.
Vibria is standing in the middle like *“I run this car.”*

And me? I’m over here asking for a driver’s license and being completely ignored. No paperwork, no eye contact, just vibes and questionable decision-making.

I don’t know where we’re going, but I’m pretty sure it’s **not** following any traffic laws. 🐕🐕🐕😆

Desert Dog Drama! Dreugan Supervises While Vibria Zooms & Lurch Tries to Keep Order!

Desert Dog Drama: Dreugan the Supervisor, Vibria’s Zoomies & Lurch the Butler**

Life at **Plateau Hame De Colquhoun** and **Ka-Hoon Campground & Event Center** isn’t just about off-grid living, Music in the Desert, and paranormal moments—it’s also full of hilarious dog personalities who run the place like their own desert kingdom.

Today’s episode of “Dog Drama in the Desert” stars our three furry legends:

**🐾 Dreugan** – the couch commander and full-time supervisor.
**🐾 Vibria** – the tiny zoomie tornado with the voice of a little girl.
**🐾 Lurch** – the proper butler, keeping order… or trying to.

In this short, funny video, Vibria tries her best to get Lurch to play, zooming around with pure puppy energy. Lurch, in full butler mode, attempts to maintain “household order,” while Dreugan oversees the chaos with the patience of a seasoned king.

These moments are part of what makes off-grid desert life at **Colquhoun** so special. Whether we’re livestreaming **Music in the Desert**, working around the campground, or dealing with random trespassers, the dogs always bring humor, love, and personality into the mix.

If you need a laugh today, this clip is for you.
Life is better with dogs—and even better with desert dogs who think they run the place.

They Drove Through Our Property at Night… AFTER Passing the No Trespassing Sign! (Caught on Camera)

**Respect in the Desert: What To Do If You Accidentally Drive Onto Private Property**

Living off-grid at **Plateau Hame De Colquhoun (Ka-Hoon Campground & Event Center)** means valuing safety, boundaries, and respect. Our desert home and campground are surrounded by open land, and it’s not unusual for people to get lost while exploring. But even in remote areas, **No Trespassing signs matter** — and respecting them keeps everyone safe.

Recently, a vehicle drove past our clearly marked **No Trespassing sign** and continued through our private road at Ka-Hoon Campground. Instead of stopping to speak with us, the driver sped off the moment they saw us. Incidents like this can be concerning, not only for our safety but for the peace of everyone who stays, camps, or participates in our events, including **Music in the Desert** livestream nights.

If you ever find yourself lost in the desert and accidentally turn onto someone’s land, here’s the right thing to do:

### ✔️ **Stop and talk to the property owner**

Most off-grid residents are friendly and understanding. If you made a wrong turn, just say so.

### ✔️ **Do not keep driving forward**

Continuing through private land raises safety concerns, especially late at night or when lights are shut off.

### ✔️ **Do not speed away**

Rushing off makes the situation appear suspicious, even if your intentions are harmless.

### ✔️ **Respect the signs**

When a sign says **No Trespassing**, it’s there for safety, liability, and privacy — not to be ignored.

At **Ka-Hoon Campground**, we welcome respectful visitors, campers, musicians, and community members for year-round events, Off-Grid Talks, Music in the Desert livestreams, karaoke nights, and our unique Halloween-inspired experiences. We value honesty, communication, and neighborly respect.

If you make a mistake, just stop.
Talk to us.
**Respect goes a long way in the desert.**

Cat Turns Desert Into a Jungle—You Won’t Believe What It Hunts Next! 🏜️😹

The Desert Stalker: Life Lessons from a Cat on the Hunt

Living off-grid in the desert means learning to move with purpose—just like our desert cat. Watch as this feline stalks through the tall grass like a miniature lion, every step calculated, every rustle suspicious. Out here, even a tumbleweed can be an enemy—or a toy.

When you live off-grid, you start to see a bit of yourself in the cat: alert, patient, and maybe a little too proud after catching nothing but dust. But that’s desert life! You adapt, you hunt for what you need, and you do it with style (and maybe a flick of the tail).

So grab a cup of coffee, watch the hunt, and remember—out here, survival looks a lot like curiosity with attitude.

Living on an Island in the Sky 🌄 The Stunning Edge of the Mesa Overlooking the Rio Grande Valley

**Life on Our Island in the Sky – The Mesa Overlooking the Rio Grande Valley**

If you’ve followed our blog, watched our videos, or joined our livestreams, you’ve likely heard us describe our home as an *“island in the sky.”* What we mean by that is the mesa where we live—an elevated desert landscape with sweeping views and a beauty all its own.

Over the past months, we’ve taken you along the edge of this mesa during livestreams, and shared photos and clips that capture just a glimpse of the experience. But seeing it in person is something truly unforgettable. The edge drops off dramatically, opening to the breathtaking Rio Grande Valley below. It’s a reminder of the raw, natural power of the desert and why we chose this lifestyle in the first place.

Living off-grid on a mesa comes with its challenges—wind, isolation, and rugged terrain—but it also offers freedom, peace, and connection to nature that can’t be matched. Every sunrise and sunset feels like a gift when it stretches across the valley floor, painting the sky in colors that pictures never fully capture.

For us, sharing this journey isn’t just about showing the views—it’s about inviting you into the off-grid lifestyle, the lessons we’ve learned, and the beauty that makes it worthwhile. Whether you’re interested in off-grid living yourself or simply curious about life on the mesa, we hope our stories inspire you.

Stay tuned for more videos, livestreams, and photos as we continue exploring and sharing our island in the sky.
