Sunny Saturday Dec 2 morning. I am a member of a few RV groups, so many times in those groups I read about Rvers traveling across country and trying to find routes around New Mexico due to their fears of crime here. It’s sad really as New Mexico is beautiful, and full of so much history! There are many safe places to stay, and see.
The reputation of the state (some based in unfortunate truth) is shocking, while others just ignore the SW or believe we are south of the boarder.
Coming to our land can be a little unnerving for sure as it’s so desolate (15 miles from town) but don’t let it or the news intimidate you. It’s really glorious.

Chilly Thursday morning.. I did take advantage of yesterday’s cloudy, windy day and made some more sage sticks. I got about 1/2 lb of sage done. I’m hoping to replenish enough to add the sage back into the Dusty Nail General Store . We also give each camper one sage stick in their welcome packet.
When we lived in Minnesota we used to harvest the sage ourselves and roll it. While I was visiting MN Sept 2022 I harvested and brought some back with me. But have used all that up and now rolling what a friend had harvested for us. (First time rolling something I didn’t harvest and dry myself)
Each sage stick is the size of a cigarette, with hemp string.
Sage has many benefits its good for killing airborne bacteria, helps control mosquitoes and other insects. Known for cleansing and area of negative energy.
Rainy, cloudy Thursday morning. We finally the store Dusty Nail General Store set up. We been brain storming on how to utilize the sore while campers are here, as none of us really want to go sit inside waiting. Not all campers want to purchase or look which is fine with us. The answer was so simple we don’t know why we hadn’t figured it out before.
We have set up the store as honor pay, campers can go in at their own convenience and purchase items if they choose. We ask them to write down their purchase as some items belong to neighbors.. Hand made purses, eggs (we only add if know we’ll have campers).
So far it has worked out good. Yes we risk theft of items, but we’ve done the honor pay during festivals and found they work quite well. We also only add a few of everything.
I do not have sage sticks out, as I need to make some. Which means me taking time to do it. Maybe something good to do on a rainy cloudy Thursday….
It is weird how friendships happen. We never thought we’d ask a band to come play here an become such close friends. Brent has been working with them pretty much everyday. It has gotten him back into to writing his own material. Seeing the passion come back that he has lost for a few years, has made it all worth it. We can’t thank Advocatus Diaboli enough for what him and the band has done.
Brent has written most of the songs that Advocatus Diaboli and the Grim Leafer Band will be performing during the Happy HORRORDAZE “Axe-Travaganza” !
It’s going to be a fun live concert, not a kid friendly concert. If you are easily offended don’t watch. Everyone else come laugh, and enjoy the show!!

Another brisk New Mexico morning. But that’s okay, the sky is clear, the sun is rising, I started the heater, and the coffee. Come join us, hangout and drink some Highland Grog coffee, but better hurry it doesn’t last long.

We had seen Advocatus Diaboli perform while visiting Wisconsin a few years ago and loved the show. While looking for a band to preform for the Hayride we thought of them, but figured it’d be a long shot or out of our budget.
But to our surprise they said yes!! Not only did they come and perform, they paid their own way in and charged us a small fee to perform, which we got back. Lol They had been wanting to get out of the cold, and try to branch out to other states, so when we asked they thought it’d be a nice trial to see if they liked it.
I’m guessing they did as they bought property right next to ours, and plan to help us by performing during the Nomad Gathering in May and few other events in the works. In return we are helping them to settle in and setting up their social media and website.
If you are looking for a variety show of covers, parody and originals with some comedy the Advocatus Diaboli and the Grim Leafer Band are open to potential bookings within New Mexico, Texas, Colorado and Arizona and the “unholy” world at large!

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! Our day was pretty good, Advocatus Diaboli and a neighbor came and had some really good prime rib thank you Advocatus for getting it!

Good Sunday, we are working on day 2 of very little sun shine. Which means we can’t run any extra electricity. We can always start up a generator, but we try not to.
We really want to have the car back, it’s been almost 2 months and it still hasn’t been touched. The insurance hasn’t even approved the repairs. When we talk to the insurance company and the body shop it becomes a blaming game. The insurance is saying the bodyshop bit off more than they could chew and 2 months behind. But yet the insurance company hasn’t even approved the repairs.
We where told if we want the dents fixed it’s going to take months.
This is our first dealings with Progressive and I have to say we are not impressed at all..
