The hayride wasnât just about spooky fun â it was about **bringing people together**. All hayride proceeds went right back into the community, helping fund **projects and improvements** that everyone could enjoy together.
Alongside the hayride, we filled the night with **live bands**, **campsite-to-campsite trick-or-treating**, **games**, **bonfires**, **potlucks**, and more. Every year brought something a little different â new faces, new frights, and new memories.
Whether you were here for the music, the laughter, or the screams echoing through the desert night, each Haunted Hayride was a reminder of what makes this community so special â people coming together under the stars.

JAFO Productions Studio at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun
The JAFO Productions new studio. Not set up yet, still need one or 2 more book shelves, cd racks are on their way. Once the shelves are in place the studio can be set up. Then let the recording begin! That is if other projects don’t get in the way. (to name a few) Fixing the roof on the battery house, lining the “hut” compost toilet, building the shower we keep putting on the back burner for other projects.

Dusty Nail General Store built out of Shipping Box
Dusty Nail General Store build here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun. The store building was originally a shipping box, used to ship large items. A local business builds these boxes, many times once used they are sent back to be reused, or sold.

Stage Build using Powerline Poles, Plastic Pallets at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun
As many know this spring we built a new stage using old powerline plugs (plugs are part of the old powerline pole that was in the ground) osb and plastic pallets. Before this build we had plastic pallets sitting on some wooden pallets on the ground. we did plan to build a roof over the stage. But had to use the funds we saved up to buy a Studio Trailer. Volunteers Needed!
It’s another hot one, today we stayed quiet and inside by the fans. The photo is a view from the top of the studio.
All of us up here at the southern end of the West Mesa have been working hard to plan the West Mesa Haunted Hay Ride ! It will be 2 fun days of scares, both nights will be a different Hayride.
We are in need of volunteers for Friday and Saturday nights of the Hayride. We need
Actors, parking attendants, drivers.
All volunteers get 2 nights free camping, plus a gift certificate for one night of camping, a gift bag from the Dusty Nail General Store and participate in the Community BBQ on Saturday October 21!

Wind the Arch Nemesis Strikes again at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun
Yesterday we went into town to get a few things, when we got back home we had a surprise of the flag pole laying on the ground. While gone our arch nemesis the wind hit and took out the flag. The evidence can be found in the video!

Hot June Days at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun
We been working hard on trying to stay cool, yesterday so far had been the worse. The wind)sand storm made it so we had to shut most of the windows. Running fans, shutting down shades to keep the sun out it was 99 inside, 110 outside.
We decided than that we’d go into town, get showers and hang out in the car AC. We can start the generator and run the AC in the RV, if we didn’t need to go into town we may have done so for couple hours. Nice part of living here the nights usually cool down, last night we got down to the 60s (nice sleeping temps!).

One thing we here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun are proud of are the sunsets. After traveling we saw some beautiful sunsets, but I have to say the ones here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun are one of if not the most beautiful. The colors, mountains, I might be biased but I feel we have a reason to be.

Hot Summer days
Not much to report, due to the heat we’ve been working on staying cool by staying inside in the shade and by the fans as much as possible.
We have been working with neighbors to plan and organize the 2 night West Mesa Haunted Hay Ride !
We are also looking for volunteers for October 20 and 21. We need parking attendants, actors, drivers. All volunteers will get to camp for free and get a gift bag from the Dusty Nail General Store and will be invited to BBQ Community/Volunteers Party Saturday October 21.
