This morning on our drive back home from the Aftershock Festival . We think back to 2 years ago to the day, we were making our move from Minnesota to New Mexico.
We have had many people ask us why we are in New Mexico. Here is our story…
We had worked as site managers at an event center for 5 yrs. During one of our yearly events an attendant had asked us if we’d be willing to come to her place in New Mexico for the winter and help her get her property ready to become an event center. After some discussion we decided to do it. (Our plans were to go for the winter then come back to Minnesota, buy land and start our own center) But while in New Mexico working a realtor brought a piece of land to our attention. We fell in love right away and bought it. We had no idea if our dream would work. But we thought we’d give it a try.
This week we have lived on the land for 2 years, and started hosting events 5 months ago. It’s been hard but we are slowly achieving our goal. We couldn’t have gotten this far without the continuous support of some wonderful neighbors, both Minnesota, New Mexico event centers(You know who you are), Rhythmpriest Productions, and not least all our old, new friends and relatives. We thank you all for helping and supporting us, we couldn’t have gotten this far without you all!!
Send positive thoughts, prayers for us to keep working to achieve our goals of having a successful Event center and Campground. A place that is safe for all to come without fear of judgement or ridicule.
We again we thank everyone that has helped supported us!!
Aftershock Festival is over, which means we head back home and finish getting ready for the Haunted Hay (Hell) Ride and Haunted Hell Ride & After Party With Dirty Brown Jug Band
Featuring Dirty Brown Jug Band !!!!
We hope everyone is as excited about both events as we are!!! Come for just the Hell Ride or just the After-party or come to both!! Tickets can be purchased on our website or at the gate.
We’ve been here at the Cal Expo RV Park since yesterday morning. But before getting here we had a wonderful night at Van Ruiten Family Winery in Lodi. Great wine, wonderful atmosphere, if you’re ever in Lodi we recommend you stop in!
Now we are sitting here at RV Park, it’s nice to be in full hook up. The location of the park is fairly quiet. But when we reserved we had been told that the shuttle for Aftershock Festival came to the RV park. Which was the big deciding factor on not bringing the car. We found out yesterday that the shuttle pickup is 2 miles away (Still on the Cal Expo property so it wasn’t a lie).. 2 miles through Sacramento streets, which makes us (well me in particular) feel very uncomfortable walking in the middle of the night.
Had a wonderful time at 5he The Bridge City Sinners and Twin Temple ! We spent the night at the local Assembly of God Church parking lot, they were very nice and accommodating, we thank them for allowing us to stay.
Tonight we head to Flying J in CA! We had someone ask why we don’t travel further in a day.. We could push and had madeMesa in one day. But we are in a 40ft RV, and found it’s safer for us and the RV to do smaller “jumps” our rule is 200 to 300 jumps. If we are wanting to go further in one day at 300 we have to take a long enough break so that the RV cools down, engine and tires.
We like traveling early mornings, later evenings or overnight, as it’s cooler, roads are cooler. Less wear and tear on tires, than running on hot surfaces.
Shakespeare Ghost Town – New Mexico, USA A unique space and history of mining, and what you can truly conclude of the “Wild (south) West “ The Abandoned town and turned into a ranch, with a scenic and harsh natural environment that is still untamed, and full of historical flavor.
Next stop Mesa Arizona to see Twin Temple and The Bridge City Sinners before heading to Aftershock Festival in Sacramento
This parking lot was the same parking lot we stayed at when we picked up the RV, we slept our first night in the RV here. We pulled in around 6:30 last night and the parking lot was already full of RVs, and semi’s. We were able to find a spot, and got to hang out and talk with a few of the truck drivers. Next stop a Ghost town.
At 8 last night we decided we wanted to go out and eat.. But soon we found out that it wasn’t an easy task, We looked up places within walking distance, checked closing times, after some debate, it was decided we’d go to #IHOP closing time 10 Pm. We walked (Got there at 9:10pm) over to only get denied service as the employee stated they were closed. Even though on their door it states 10 pm, all lights were on. IHOP Restaurant
