We are only 2 days away from July Camping and Movie Night ! Come sit in the middle of the desert, under the stars and watch “Renfeild” . The movie is free to watch. Free parking is available.
If you’d like to camp, or park closer (VIP Parking) reserve your campsites or parking by visiting our website!
Movie starts at Dusk, gates open 2 hours before. All that reserve a campsite or parking gates open at noon, we ask that campers arrive before the start of the movie.

BBQing is allowed (at your campsites or parking spot) until the movie starts.

One of the cool things about living on a Mesa and having Valleys on 3 sides is seeing the changes in weather. We can have storms and simultaneously sunshine, or even what may look like a tidal wave where no ocean has existed for a very long time. Must be the land of enchantment.

Heat, heat and more heat. With Temps up onto the 100s and no air conditioning we tend to stay quiet on front of the fans or go into town in AC car. But we haven’t been getting much done here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun . We do have a neighbor that works at night, and sleeps during the day. This is fine and dandy for some, but I like a good sleep, and rather sleep when it’s cooler.
We do work on a few things in the evenings once it starts to cool down. But dealing with the heat makes us exhausted and grumpy.
To help keep the dogs cool we us cooling towels, or a damp towel. With fans blowing, and the towels the dogs they lay around and sleep. But they are ready to go out and play early mornings and in the evenings when it’s cooler.
I’d rather deal with this heat and cooler nights then the cold Minnesota winters.

Like a good scare, or like to scare others? Make sure to attend the West Mesa Haunted Hay Ride 2 nights of scares, entertainment, bonfire. Camping is available for one or both nights. Each night is a different Hayride. Advocatus Diaboli will be performing Saturday night.

The movie is free for all to watch, there is free parking available. The parking lot is a little hike to where the movie is played.

The Ziamet Weather station tower is up. Next the University Of New Mexico will be out to install everything on the tower. Our understanding is that it tracts temps, humidity, dew points, barometric, wind speed/directions, rain, ground temp and moisture and I think it tracks seismic activities.
We are not sure what Ziamet Weather program is using the data collected for.
One thing for sure we look forward to having some weather information on this end of the mesa. Since the mesa on this end is narrow about 2 miles across and valleys on 3 sides our weather (Temps, winds, precipitation) tends to be different from what we get on weather apps.
We do have a small weather station for ourselves, it works rather well, but not always the most accurate.

Hope everyone had a safe and wonderful 4th of July.
We did, a bunch of the neighbors came, we had a BBQ and went to the other end of the Mesa that overlooked at least 6 towns and watched a beautiful moonrise from behind the Manzanos mountains and Fireworks from individuals to the cities shooting fireworks off. It was the best show I have ever seen, city lights, fireworks going off all over. Well worth the short travel to see!
