Desert Roads Flooded After Just a Few Drops of Rain! Free-Range Cattle Loving It 🌧🐄

Desert Rains Bring Surprising Floods Near Ka-Hoon Campground

Out here in the desert, it doesn’t take much rain to change the landscape. Over the last couple of days, we’ve had a little rain at Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center—but not much at all. Just a few miles north of us, though, the roads told a different story.

Check out the video to see a few flooded spots, including one where free-range cattle were happily wading through the water. It’s amazing how such a small amount of rain can cause puddles, washouts, and mud across the mesa.

That’s desert life—one moment it’s dry and dusty, and the next, the roads are soaked. Even if we don’t get much on our end, the surrounding areas can flood quickly, and it can take a few days before the roads fully dry out.

Living off-grid in the New Mexico desert means embracing these surprises. From music echoing at Ka-Hoon Campground to cattle enjoying rainwater pools, the mesa is always full of unexpected beauty.
