It’s been a warm weekend, we didn’t get to start any of the projects, but fingers crossed this week is supposed to have a few nice days in a row. We plan on redoing the “hut” compost toilet. It’s a metal shed built out of used corgated metal we purchased on the Market place. The metal has nail holes that leaks when we get snow, heavy rain, and the wind blows right through. We will be sealing the holes and insulating it. Today, Advocatus Diaboli and the Grim Leafer Band got to rehearse. They have been practicing at home and sounded pretty good. Or so I’ve been told. I was busy working on a commissioned crochet project thats on a time restraint so i wasn’t able to go and listen to the rehearsal.
Friday January 12 outside temp 17 inside 33 and warming.
I didn’t want to get out of the nice warm bed this morning. But the dogs had other ideas. Dreugan sleeps at my feet, Amigo will sleep with us off and on throughout the night, he’ll also crawl into bed if he needs out.
Last night (so I thought, but really was this morning) Amigo had crawled into bed a couple times, gave me a kiss and laid down. We didn’t think much about it.
When one of the dogs does something wrong Dreugan a 110 lb dog ends up almost sitting on my head and won’t move. He did that to me this morning so I’m like “great what is wrong”, pulling myself out from under Dreugan as he won’t move all the while thinking of the worse. I did find a small mess that luckily was easy to clean up. I guess poor Amigo was asking to go out and we missed him telling us.
Having furry kids isn’t always easy.. it was 100% my fault. It’s all good now, mess cleaned up and santized. Now onto the rest of the day, drink some coffee, get ready for some campers that are coming in, Advocatus Diaboli wants to do a rehearsal, hopefully have time to work on a few projects.
Thursday January 11. Almost 4 pm outside temps 37 with 22 mph winds. Inside temp 65.
We had some confusion about yesterday’s post. We aren’t having issues running heat, only turning on a fan. The issue is we were worried about the solar batteries as it had seemed it shut down to often. But upon closer inspection batteries tested good. We just aren’t getting enough sun during the day.
We do not run heat at night as we don’t feel safe doing so even with smoke, CO2 detectors. We rather save the propane and not have ro worry. We both have no issues sleeping under our 3 blankets.
Please enjoy the video of us taking the back road home. There’s even a boat if the water ever gets up this high..
Wednesday, July 10th, again, the electric is out, so I’m not able to get accurate temps. Before electricity went off, it was 17 outside and 41 inside.
We figured out why, even with a clear day yesterday, the solar didn’t last. It did last until I turned on the heat and the fan just a few minutes ago .
One: We hadn’t adjusted the panels for winter. We hadn’t had issues, so we left them. Now we are debating if we want to adjust them to have to redo it in a few months, (It makes a huge difference in the sumner) or leave them.
Two: We aren’t getting long enough sun during the days. When we have multiple sunny days in a row, we have no issues. But one clear with cloudy days before and after is the issue.
I think we have figured out battery storage for the 5k solar we need to build. Now, we just need some nice days (without a lot of wind) or something else needing the time to get it done.

Chilly, windy Monday January 8. Outside temp 27 30 mph winds with gusts over 40.
Our plans today? I’m not sure.. I’ve been asked to make a few more Gnomes, I need to get the websites updated. so I’ll probably be working on be doing that. Brent is usually working on music, he’s been helping AD a lot lately getting their place set up.
We are hoping the sun comes out as right now we have to limit electric usage. Today is rehearsal day, if the sun doesn’t come out Advocatus Diaboli and the Grim Leafer Band won’t be over to rehearse.

A windy Sunday, January 7th. Temps are 33f outside, 47f, and warming up inside.
The weather is saying we may be in for snow, record breaking cold temps, and last until Tuesday. On days like these, where it’s cloudy, we have to reserve the electricity. Which means no TVs, keeping lights off as much as possible. So that the electric lasts as long as possible.
I tend to craft either draw or crochet. I go through phases on what I like to do. Here recently it’s been crocheting. I been making little bags for the store. Few mushrooms and Gnomes for ourselves, and was commissioned to make a little Gnome with a beard and dreads. Never doing one like this I think he turned out cute.
I was asked if I’m going to put any in the store? Idk really depends on if I continue to make them. I think they are really cute, so maybe…. 路

Its Saturday January 6 2024. The temp is 27 outside, 40 and raising inside. Yesterday was a warmer, sunny day. We were able to get a few things done outside. I was going to try and record or do another live stream, but we had some phone calls and I wasn’t able to.
Then we ran into town got showers and a few groceries. I say a few, didn’t even cover the bottom of the cart and it was almost $100?
We have talked about raising our own (I miss it)We’d have to buy the animals, get water, hay, grain.
But I got off topic, on Thursday we did get some snow, but it was gone in a few hours. The valley and Manzanos got enough to stick a few days.

Thu Jan 4th 37 degrees outside, 50 inside. I have just realized it was 4 yrs ago yesterday that we purchased the land that is now Plateau Hame De Colquhoun !
It’s now snowing, I am not able to get the heater to light (Brent probably won’t have any issues when he gets up). Idk why it does that to me, maybe don’t like how I touch it, or turn its know?
The dogs are curled up on the couch, I’m wrapped in my blankets, waiting for the coffee to finish. Todays plan is probably to stay in, watch videos/listen to music on our phones, play some games. I might even work on the website, and finish up the page for the NM 2024 Nomad Gathering in the Desert .
We’ve had a good response towards the lives, though I never know what to say or show. I will try to do a quick one today.
