Wildfires smoke

Today the sky was so full of smoke due to the Az, Nv CO, Ca and NM fires, we couldn’t see any of the mountain ranges. Or maybe they just disappeared?

How do we sleep while our beds are turning, how do we sleep while our world is burning….勞

Solar Deep Cell Batteries

Worked on building a shelf for all the batteries. Each battery weighs 140 lbs. We had planned on building a shelf, but we found a metal shelf that’s supposed to hold up to 5000 lbs. Temps up in the 100s we try to work early mornings, and the evenings.

Modern Pioneerism

Modern Pioneerism is not easy! There are days we’re ready to throw in the towel. We miss be able to take a shower when ever we want, not have to worry about running something as simple as a fan at night. As it could run the batteries down.

Being able to have a night of music without having to complete with an generator. Having to go outside to the bathroom, even in the middle of the night. Miss the feeling of going camping as we camp 24/7. Having space for yourself.

But even with all these,  We love it! We continue and we grow. Soon we’ll have enough solar, room, to make some of those i mentioned to get better.

Relaxation, rain and music 🎶

While sitting up here on the mesa Plateau Hame De Colquhoun it’s raining in the Rio Grande Valley.
Today we went and got more supplies for the solar build, waiting for the arrival for the new container. We take a night off, Brent sings and we relax! First time since moving here we’ve actually had a place inside to hang out. Though the space is full of solar.

Living Off Grid

Running off grid on a smaller 3500 Watt solar setup means running a minimum of electricity at night. With some weather type cooperation we hope to fix this soon! We have the 8k system in staging mode, although as well tomorrow we are going to look at another 4 k system to supplement. Can’t ever have enough solar power and it ads to our options of the intention for the land.
Wouldn’t that be nice….樂

Travel Map

States we’ve all been to since last October 2020! We have rules for the state to count.. We most stop, get out of the vehicles, sight see or buy something for it to count. Driving through non stop doesn’t count. States we’ve been to before October or fly to doesn’t count.

We are hoping to fill most of the map up. Idk how can drive to Hawaii?!

Projects waiting game and weather

We have many projects to achieve, but much of it is weather dependent. Forecast is showing rain for the next couple days. Which means we wait it out, don’t run much for electricity due to lack of sunlight. Once the new solar is up and finished, and new container is delivered. We’ll be able to do more of the work that isn’t weather dependent. But until then here we sit…

Prairie Dogs at Walmart

We had hopes of starting phase one build of the solar. But to start we need a clear day (to run power tools on the small solar, or generator) without rain. The weather shows rain for the next few days. We headed to town get few things at #walmart, while there we seen these couple of Prairie Dogs! #prairiedogs #cuteness #newmexico #Belen #artoftinyliving #plateauhamedecolquhoun #modernpioneerism

Today we harvest Mesquite Beans #mesquitebeans that we’re using the beans to make Desert Coffee. When you book at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun you have option to order a morning cup of fresh preculated desert coffee $5.00 for 2 cups. Until this harvest is gone..

Desert coffee is caffeine free, we harvest, roast and grind the beans! Very tasty and unique flavor! Just bring your favorite additives (honey, sugar, milk).
