As I sat outside, enjoying the cool night breeze and the expansive New Mexico skies, an unexpected and mysterious event unfolded before my eyes. A glowing ball of light, with an undetermined size, darted across the sky above me. Its movements were rapid and erratic, shifting in various directions.
Eager to capture this phenomenon, I attempted to record a video, but the light’s speed and distance, combined with my cell phone camera’s limitations, made it impossible. I watched, spellbound, as the light danced across the sky.
Moments later, helicopters appeared out of nowhere, seemingly targeting the light. As they approached, the light executed a sudden zigzag maneuver and vanished without a trace. This left me wondering—what exactly did I witness? Could it have been military aircraft, aliens, or something else entirely?
The West Mesa has long been shrouded in mystery, with sightings of unexplained lights and phenomena over the years. This latest encounter adds to the intrigue and leaves us with more questions than answers. What do you think the light was?

Settling into an unfamiliar area during the COVID lockdown, with few connections and harsh conditions, our 26-foot class C RV became our sanctuary. With an outdoor kitchen sheltered under a portable carport, we adapted to the unpredictable climate. Dreugan’s presence provided a much-needed distraction and companionship as we navigated through our dreams amidst the ongoing uncertainty of our new surroundings.
