**Desert Dog Chronicles: Life With Our Off-Grid Canine Crew**
Living off-grid in the New Mexico desert brings a mix of peace, chaos, wildlife, and plenty of four-legged entertainment. Our dogs have become masters of desert life, each with a personality that adds something unique to our days. From patrol duties to playtime to dealing with unexpected nighttime visitors, every day is its own adventure.
## **Meet the Desert Crew**
### **Dreugan – The Commander**
Dreugan is the leader of the group, the one who takes charge, keeps watch, and makes sure everyone is doing exactly what they *should* be doing… even if they rarely are. He oversees everything with a seriousness that makes the rest of the chaos even funnier.
### **Vibria – The Fearless Powerhouse**
Vibria may be young, but she’s strong, fast, and muscled up—a true desert athlete. She barrels across the sand with confidence, taking on bushes, wind, odd noises, and imaginary threats with equal enthusiasm. Nothing scares her, and nothing slows her down.
### **Lurch – The Proper Gentleman**
Lurch approaches desert life with elegance, caution, and a surprising amount of politeness. Whether he’s stepping over rocks or weaving through brush, he does it like he’s wearing an evening coat and should not be soiled.
### **Persephone – The Ball Enthusiast**
Persephone has one mission in life: **her ball**. She doesn’t dig, wander, or chase after desert creatures. Instead, she sits in perfect focus, waiting for playtime. The world could fall apart around her, and she would still be locked onto that ball like it holds the secrets of the universe.

## **Daily Life in the Desert**
Each day begins with energy, excitement, and the dogs bursting into the outdoors like it’s their personal playground. Dreugan immediately takes charge of patrol, Vibria launches into high-speed adventures, Lurch attempts to stay clean and composed, and Persephone waits patiently for someone—anyone—to throw that ball.
The desert gives them plenty to investigate: shifting scents, rustling brush, birds overhead, and the occasional coyote strolling by. It’s a never-ending landscape of curiosity, freedom, and fun.

## **Nighttime Visitors: The Free-Range Bulls**
When evening falls, the desert comes alive in a very different way. New Mexico is a free-range state, meaning cattle can roam anywhere in their designated range unless fenced out. That includes right by our home—something we’re perfectly fine with.
The bulls especially seem to enjoy our area. Some nights they challenge each other, bellowing, hollering, and wrestling until sunrise. It’s loud, chaotic, and very much part of our off-grid life.
The dogs take it all in stride. Dreugan stays alert, Vibria watches with interest, Lurch keeps a respectful distance, and Persephone continues to focus entirely on her ball.

## **Life Off-Grid Brings Stories Worth Sharing**
Living in the desert with this crew means there’s always something happening—unexpected visitors, playful chaos, and moments of pure comedy. Our dogs love the space to run, explore, and express their personalities in ways only the desert can inspire.
Every day here brings a new story, and these four make sure it’s never boring.
