Kicking Off the Season at Ka-Hoon Campground: Open Mic Night & Upcoming Summer Hootenanny!**
Spring is slowly settling in here at Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center, and we’re gearing up for our **first small event of the season on April 19th**! This year, we’re trying something new with a **hybrid Open Mic Night** — both **in-person** and **online**. Can’t make it out to the desert? No problem! Join us on TikTok (details coming soon) and be a part of the fun from wherever you are.
We’ll likely start earlier for our in-person performers, then move online after dark. TikTok has a few limitations on songs, so we’re planning around that — stay tuned for finalized times and links!
Even though we haven’t made much progress on projects around the campground (thanks to the wind and a steady flow of campers), it’s been busy in all the best ways. Brent’s still struggling with his arm, but he’s seeing an orthopedic specialist this week — fingers crossed for good news and a simple fix. He’s ready to get back to using his hand and helping out more again.
**Looking ahead to July**, we’re excited to announce our **Halloween in the Summer Hootenanny** — an epic weekend of camping, music, and spooky fun under the desert stars. Decorate your campsite, join the campsite trick-or-treating, show off your costume, and even vend your handmade or unique goods if you’d like.
**Event Highlights:**
– **Live performance by Advocatus Diaboli and the Grim Leafer Band**
– **Campsite-to-campsite trick-or-treating**
– **Costume contest**
– **Free entry for attendees**
– **Free vending for campers**
– **$12 for non-camping vendors (covers the whole weekend)**
– **$12 per campsite/night (up to 5 people per site)**
Got a bigger group? Reach out — we’re happy to work with you.
**Ready to experience off-grid fun, good vibes, and a safe space to be yourself?** Come join us in the beautiful New Mexico desert. Visit our website for details, directions, and more:

Rehearsing in the studio with wonderful campers visiting from Switzerland and celebrating retirement travel!
Yesterday was a busy day in the studio as we spent most of it rehearsing. In between, we had the pleasure of hosting a couple of wonderful campers. It’s always enjoyable giving tours and visiting with guests who come from all walks of life. One of our campers was a father and son who had just embarked on a two-week vacation to tour the USA, all the way from Switzerland! We were honored to be their first stop on such a special journey. Another camper had just retired from truck driving and is now planning to enjoy all the sights and experiences they had missed while on the road. We wish both of them the best on their travels!
If you’re looking for a peaceful retreat with a welcoming community, be sure to visit us at **Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center**.

General Announcements
We’ve been dealing with the heat and working on staying cool.
A few solar issues arose recently, including a cable being torn off the combiner box. We are unsure how this happened but are currently working on better safeguarding the area to prevent future incidents.
Advocatus Diaboli and the Grim Leafer Band will be performing at Stage Luchetti on June 29th.
Needed
Additionally, we are in need of an old 10×10 canopy frame (or equivalent). We don’t need the top; the frame doesn’t need to be perfect but should be repairable. We plan to decorate it with fairy lights and set it up in the Cahoots Courtyard. If anyone has something that could work, please contact us.
Thank you all for your continued support!

Enjoying a Cooler Day on the Mesa: A Perfect Tour and Bonfire Evening
Yesterday, we took the campers on a tour of the mesa. With the day mainly being hazy and cloudy, the temperatures were a bit cooler than usual, which made the tour more enjoyable. The cooler weather was perfect for exploring the beautiful mesa and taking in the stunning views.
After the tour, we gathered around the bonfire in the Cahoots Courtyard for a relaxing evening. It was a cool night, perfect for sharing stories and enjoying the serene ambiance of the campfire.
We truly enjoyed seeing the campers and their families having a great time, appreciating the land, and getting to know each other. These moments of connection are what make all our work here at KaHoon Campground and Event Center worth it.
