It’s Wednesday August 2nd already. Anne Calhoun just finished her first semester of college. The West Mesa Haunted Hay Ride is just around the corner!

We also have the Camping and Movie Night coming up in just a few weeks. I am on the look out for a movie for the September Camping and Movie Night. I would like to do a double feature of both the new and old Haunted Mansion, but I’m not sure the new one will be available by then.

If you have any suggestions on movies we’d love to hear it!

We got a good rain last night which so far has help to cool it off a little.

The Studio is slowly getting organized. Today we worked in the 115 degeee heat on unboxing the books and putting them on the shelf. All the books are organized by the authors last name and in alphabetical order. Or so I thought, I was the one that packed all 30 boxes of books, I thought I got them all off the shelves in order. But I guess I got a few books mixed up. I really can’t remember as I boxed them in 2019. But we did get 11 boxes done today. We are on the look out for one maybe 2 more book shelves. Also big pallets, so we can get the other solar setup built. If you know of any please let us know.

Yesterday we took a 3 hour trip to Alamogordo to pick up some stuff for the West Mesa Haunted Hay Ride . We had called around and this was the only place within the state that had it.

We only have 21 days before the Camping and Movie Night the movie will be Bohemian Rhapsody . We are still looking for a movie for September and willing to take suggestions.

This month has been hard with both positive and negative things going on.

The heat has been nearly oppressive for a month and there is still a few days to go before the meteorologist says it might break.
Let’s hope so, because some folks don’t have a support system and it apparently has made them go completely insane.

We had one of the largest groups of campers at one time being nearly thirty people over all. It was certainly a challenge, we learned, we delt, we succeeded.

The long dog days, do however bring beautiful nights and sunsets with millions of stars.

Amigo turned one year…getting to be a good pup, and one of us here has begun her transition back to school.

Still a challenge getting a foothold on the local people to enjoy coming out, but travelers are always a pleasure to have visit.

Can’t wait for fall when some new and some returning events will be happening. Stay tuned for info.

Yet another hot day. Dreugan. Amigo and I are sitting in the AC car while Brent and Anne run into Walmart. A couple days a week we run Anne to college. While waiting for her to be done we tend to run errands like get water and sometimes ice for the neighbors.

Today Brent and I sat in the shade at a local park. While sitting there Amigo begged for us to turn on the air even though it wasn’t that bad.

Dreugan did not drive, he’s still not the best at paying attention.

August 19th will be the next Camping and Movie Night we’ll be watching Bohemian Rhapsody. Come sit under the beautiful New Mexico stars, in the middle of the desert, on top of a small mesa over looking the Rio Grande Valley.

Camping and Movie Nights

The West Mesa Haunted Hay Ride will be October 20 and 21. 2 nights (each night different) of Halloween music, bonfires, fortune teller. A Saturday night show with Advocatus Diaboli, food vendor. The Hayride and shows are highly suggested for 16 years and older. Parental supervision is advice.Adult Content. Violence.

Usually, when the sun goes down after a 100 + days, it’s cools down. We tend to sit outside, watch the dogs and cats play, work on projects, or, as in the photo Anne is working on homework. We’ve found that trying to cool the RV off for a few hours isn’t worth it. If we get we’re the heat is really hitting us hard, we drive into town in the AC car, get showers, get a few groceries, and cool off. The dogs really love riding in the cool car. The only issue we have is due to the dogs we use the remote start while showering (it’s more secure than starting and let run with the key) the remote starter only runs 15 minutes before it shuts off. We set a timer and so far it’s been working.

I was able to get the flier done for the West Mesa Haunted Hay Ride ! This event is open to all to attend. The Haunted Hayride and show are NOT appropriate for all ages members We highly recommend 16+.

We’ll have 2 nights of scares each night different from the last.

Camping packages for one or both nights are available.

There will be Music, bonfires, fortune teller, show with Advocatus Diaboli, food vendor and more.
