#### Music in the Desert Saturdays
**Date:** Second Saturday of each month during the summer
**Gates Open:** Noon
Join us for a magical night of talent and stargazing under the beautiful New Mexico skies. Music in the Desert Saturdays feature a variety of activities to enjoy:
– **Karaoke:** Show off your singing skills and have fun with fellow campers.
– **Talent Show:** Share your unique talents and be entertained by others.
– **Camping:** Enjoy a night under the stars with your family and friends.
– **Bonfires:** Gather around the firepit, play music, tell stories, and make s’mores.
For just $12.00, you can bring up to five people for an evening of fun. The price includes admission and a campsite. All performances are weather-dependent, and in case of cancellation, the event will be rescheduled for the following Saturday.
#### Drum Circle on the Longest Day of the Year
**Date:** Friday, June 21
**Gate Opens:** 5 PM
Celebrate the longest day of the year with a special drum circle event. Bring your drums or other instruments, and join us around the bonfire. This event aims to welcome the summer and bring peace for the rest of the year.
– **What to Bring:** Drums or other instruments, camping gear, food, and beverages for the snack bar.
– **Registration:** Includes optional camping. Members get free admission and camping.

Our communal firepit, Colquhoun Hearth, located within the Colquhoun Circle, is one of the center points at Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center. Members-Only Memorial Day Potluck at Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center
Yesterday, we hosted a members-only Memorial Day potluck at Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center, and it was a resounding success! We had a fantastic turnout, and everyone brought delicious dishes to share. One of the highlights was Brent’s delectable Lemon Pepper Chicken, which everyone enjoyed.
After the meal, the kids had a blast crafting heart stuffies, a fun and creative activity that kept them engaged. Once they finished, they settled down in the Greenroom to watch a movie, providing a relaxing end to their busy day.
While the kids were crafting and watching movies, the adults enjoyed the serene ambiance around the bonfire in Cahoots Courtyard. It was a perfect opportunity to unwind, chat, and gaze at the breathtaking New Mexico skies.

A Windy Sunday in the Desert: Neighborly Fun and Egg Hunts while living offgrid
Yesterday, we had the pleasure of spending a breezy Sunday with a few of our neighbors, seeking shelter from the forceful winds of the New Mexico desert in the comforting confines of the Greenroom. Despite the challenging conditions, we managed to enjoy a delightful meal together.
As the children attempted, albeit unsuccessfully, to fly a kite in the high winds, it became evident that nature had other plans for our outdoor activities. Undeterred, we shifted our focus to the age-old tradition of egg hunting. Amidst laughter and excitement, the children scoured the area, searching for hidden treasures.
However, the elusive nature of two eggs proved to be a challenge for both the children and the adults. Despite our best efforts, those two eggs remained undiscovered, destined to be stumbled upon by a fortunate event attendee or camper in the future.
Reflecting on the day, I regret not capturing more moments on film to cherish and share. Nonetheless, I take solace in the memories created and the bonds strengthened with our neighbors. Here’s to hoping that whoever finds those final two eggs will experience the same joy and camaraderie that we did, and perhaps enjoy the surprise within the plastic shells.
