Plateau Hame De Colquhoun Plateau Home of Colquhoun

I have been getting a lot of memories from Facebook, and Google of our move here a little over two years ago. Moving here on the land was the first thing Brent and I have done for ourselves since we have been together. We have helped others build their land to do events for many years.

But we wanted to do something for ourselves, we wanted to have our own campground and Event center.

Moving here to Plateau Hame De Colquhoun has been a learning curve. The land was vacant, had trash left by individuals dumping, cow patties from the free range cattle, cactus, snake weeds, yucca and more.

Before we could open we cleaned up and hauled off the trash, mowed, built a road for better access, build a stage, toilet.

In April of 2022 we opened for our first event an open mic. We were very fearful, we had worked many events for others but this was our first time for ourselves. We had a lot of what ifs. What if nobody shows, what if solar and generators don’t work the way we planned, what if people don’t like it, what if the road out deters people.. So many what ifs we had thought about quitting. But us being who we are (stubborn) we kept going. People did come, they said they enjoyed themselves. This made all the work so far worth it!

For all wondering as we get asked a lot.. Plateau Hame De Colquhoun is Scottish for Plateau Home of Colquhoun (Ka-hoon). Colquhoun is a Scottish clan which is Brent Colquhoun ancestry.

I wanted to add the Colquhoun March to the video but I wasn’t able to find one I could us.. So here is a link to the Colquhoun March..

Plateau Hame De Colquhoun Quiet Days

After the successful private event on Saturday, it’s been quiet for a few days. We spent today working on community projects, before the winds started to pick up. Which for me means trying to stay out of the wind as much as possible. We do have campers coming in and one private event scheduled for this month. Enjoy the photos taken here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun

If you’d like to schedule an event, come camp please contact us here or through the web site.

Two year Anniversary Plateau Hame De Colquhoun

This morning on our drive back home from the Aftershock Festival . We think back to 2 years ago to the day, we were making our move from Minnesota to New Mexico.

We have had many people ask us why we are in New Mexico. Here is our story…

We had worked as site managers at an event center for 5 yrs. During one of our yearly events an attendant had asked us if we’d be willing to come to her place in New Mexico for the winter and help her get her property ready to become an event center. After some discussion we decided to do it. (Our plans were to go for the winter then come back to Minnesota, buy land and start our own center) But while in New Mexico working a realtor brought a piece of land to our attention. We fell in love right away and bought it. We had no idea if our dream would work. But we thought we’d give it a try.

This week we have lived on the land for 2 years, and started hosting events 5 months ago. It’s been hard but we are slowly achieving our goal. We couldn’t have gotten this far without the continuous support of some wonderful neighbors, both Minnesota, New Mexico event centers(You know who you are), Rhythmpriest Productions, and not least all our old, new friends and relatives. We thank you all for helping and supporting us, we couldn’t have gotten this far without you all!!

Send positive thoughts, prayers for us to keep working to achieve our goals of having a successful Event center and Campground. A place that is safe for all to come without fear of judgement or ridicule.

We again we thank everyone that has helped supported us!!

Offerings at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun

After purchasing our land Plateau Hame De Colquhoun in January 2020. We put a brick that we had written Colquhoun on using a permanent marker and placed it centrally on the property, knowing we would be headed back to MN to work and get prepared to move onto the property.

We made our move October 2020, when arriving one of the first things we noticed on the property was a dead tree stump. We placed this tree stump along with the original brick close to the central point.

Since setting these together campers, visitors have started leaving offerings I.E Painted rocks, figurines, flowers, jewelry. We ask that if you leave an item, take one to leave somewhere else, help spread the special atmosphere of this area to other places.

Winds, Shower progress.

Wind, wind, and more wind. We have a few nice days then get winds. Enough that we are not able to work on the new shower. The wooden box in the first photo will become the new shower.

The wooden box in the second photo is where the second compost toilet will be. The shower will be attached to this.

What we do next move the shower box over the tank we buried, level it and attach it to the other box. We will be taking a step into the shower from another box.

Shower water will drain into the tank, which we’ll use later to water plants. The metal shed “hut” is the first compost toilet.

As you can see we still have always to go. But we need nice non-windy days to accomplish the tasks.

We are still in need of linoleum, lumber, plastic, and or wood pallets if you have any of the items listed you don’t need at a reasonable price, please feel free to contact us!

Hole for the shower dug, tote in the hole and hope filled.. Next step is moving the building over the tote and then finishing the inside.

Once finished we’ll have a second compost toilet and a shower!

We are pretty much set up for the Saturday event 420 Open Mic!
