Quiet Friday night sitting around the fire! Been a busy week of running, and haven’t been able to get much work done here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun .
Always seems to work that way when the days are nice, we have the weekend, free but it’s supposed to be windy.

The May 7th Open Mic “Talent no Talent” Show is run by a community of neighbors up here on the mesa. It’s a way to share an environment that is safe and nonjudgmental and get to know others while sharing a few products that are made up here in the desert on the West Mesa.
Plateau Hame De Colquhoun hosts the events. Plateau Hame De Colquhoun ( Plateau Home Of Colquhoun Ka-Hoon) is owned and operated by Brent and Melodie Calhoun. It’s an off-grid dispersed campground, event venue.

Our first public event was small but successful.
After receiving many requests for another event. We are thinking of doing another Open Mic “Talent no Talent Show” the beginning of May, we’ll update date and times soon!
While planning the next event. We are working on getting the shower and second compost toilet built.
We are in need of a few items for few projects we are working on or plan to do.
Know of any of the items listed at a reasonable price let us know!
-About 100 Square feet of Linoleum
-Couple doors
-Lumber 2×4, OSB, 4×4, 2×6
-Tin or Aluminum Siding
-Trailer 20 ft, possibly used as a stage.

We had a nice first of hopefully many open mics. Small group about 40 people. Which was okay for us. Had many neighbors come out, it was nice for us to get a chance to meet, talk and hang out.
We enjoyed meeting everyone and thank you all for coming being so supportive! A special shout out to Dog water band for coming and playing some awesome music for us!
Hole for the shower dug, tote in the hole and hope filled.. Next step is moving the building over the tote and then finishing the inside.
Once finished we’ll have a second compost toilet and a shower!
We are pretty much set up for the Saturday event 420 Open Mic!
Getting a hole dug for the shower wasn’t meant to happen today. Something that should have only taken about an hour has become more. The trailer hauling the backhoe broke on the road, which caused the backhoe to tear up a hydraulic hose.
The backhoe operator had the trailer hauled back to his place, the backhoe is at our place, got a new hose. Tomorrow morning we try again to get the hole dug.
The rest of the day was sitting out the winds, printing out passes for the Open Mic event Saturday!

Tomorrow (weather permitting, strong winds are predicted) we will be starting the shower build. We are starting with having a big hole dug that we’ll put in a big holding tank. Once this is completed, we move the building, over the tank. We haven’t started construction on the inside yet. We are looking for smaller pieces of linoleum to put on the walls and floor.
Once completed we will have a shower for ourselves and campers to use. We are working on how to charge for the shower as water is important out here and we have to have it hauled in. Stay tuned for updates!

It’s been a busy Saturday. One of our busiest nights for campers. Nice to see others enjoying the land, views, and tranquility as much as we do!

What a day! Woke up this morning with 2 inches of snow, a few hours later the snow is gone. Finally was able to get the RV vacuumed!
Due to the snow and ground being wet we weren’t able to get the outside work done like needed. Though gave some time to get a few things ready for next weekend…
