New Years Party at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun

It’s always nice to get away for a few days, visiting friends and family. But it’ll be nice to get home and sleep in our own bed. The video is of our trip to Ruidoso on Highway 48.

Again we thank those that are staying at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun and neighbors for checking in while we are gone.

Weather permitting (no wind) will have a Bonfire. If it is windy or cold will be using the Green Room. And play Games.

Cold Quiet Days at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun

Sorry we haven’t been posting much. It’s been cold and quiet and not much going on. We do have a couple campers staying at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun .

We are visiting family by Ruidoso, a very special place to us. We started our journey of buying our land here. It’s nice to be back and able to spend the holiday with friends and family. Pictures are of our trip up here to Ruidoso. We’ll post more.

Here is an overhead look of Plateau Hame De Colquhoun , few things have changed since this image was taken, we have more trails, campsites, a parking lot and another container.

When we moved to our land it looked like everything around it. We had the road built in, mowed, and cleaned up trash.

Sprained ankle over the Holidays

If you know me you know I am accident prone. Yesterday I decided to fall down the RV steps. Brent Colquhoun said he’s never seen anyone fall down steps in slow motion before. Lol I guess I should be proud. Luckily nothing broke, sprain the ankle and pulled the tendon plus bruised up, but i will survive and others got amusement out of it, what more could I ask for?
In other news not much going on, we are excited to have a nice visit with our dear friend Donna for the Holiday. We will be picking up some trees to plant here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun .

Saturday at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun and Tour of the Mesa!

Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday. It’s a beautiful quiet Saturday here so far. I got some memories from last year at this time and we were cleaning up tumble weeds. It’s weird as this year the tumble weeds aren’t that bad. Which is nice for us, but poor Dreugan loves chasing and carrying them around. We don’t know Amigo’s reaction to them yet, but he tends to follow his big brother Dreugan around.

The business side of things the Community Tour of the mesa is now officially available to campers to book a tour.

Take a ride on the back roads of the West Mesa. Learn the history of Alien sightings, WW2 bombing practices, old west outlaws, land scams and volcanoes. View the overlooks of the Rio Grande valley and Arroyo, visit the labyrinths, ancient stones, and ruins of 1950’s wells.

Sick and Holiday Decorations

Not much to report, got the holiday decorations up, All of us here have been dealing with a cold and haven’t gone anywhere or done much. We’ve had a few campers this last week. We are proud to announce that not only do we offer a tour, you can buy farm fresh eggs delivered to the campsite. We are also working on adding a few other exciting services for campers.

2023 New Years Camping

It’s already Dec 6th. Before the rains started we had a couple wonderful campers stay. Now everything is wet and muddy which makes traveling in and out a little more difficult.

We’ve had a few requests for 2023 events that we are working on scheduling. The Community Haunted Hayride is being worked on. We also  have the community Tour of the mesa. Tickets to the tour can be found on the website.

Rain in the Desert

Cloudy Saturday with rain in the forecast. We need the rain but it makes passage through the desert roads more of a challenge. Most areas of the roads that get under water have drive arounds. But there are a few that don’t.

The morning cloudy sky made for some beautiful photos of Ladrone and sun rise towards the Manzano Mountains.

Sick while living Off-grid at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun

Before Brent and I got together, I was constantly sick. My immune system is screwed up.. Once Brent and I got together we started taking extra precautions when in public. Wiping down groceries carts, having Alcohol wipes and wearing masks. We did this pre Covid. I have to say it worked, I wasn’t always sick, actually it’s been years until now that I got sick last. Idk why now, was there something at the places that we went sight seeing?

Being the first time I’m really sick (not counting just don’t feel good) since living out here in the middle of the desert, the biggest downfall is not having showers, I want a really long hot shower, or lay in a tube filled with steaming hot water. But since that’s not an option I’ll do steam from a boiling pan of water.
