He Was Told He May Never Sing Again… His Thanksgiving Comeback Will Leave You Speechless!

Giving Thanks: A Thanksgiving Message From Our Hearts at Ka-Hoon Campground

This year has tested us in ways we never expected. When Brent was injured and rushed into the ICU, spending a week undergoing emergency surgery, our world stopped. Doctors warned us that he might be headed to a rehab facility… and that he may never sing again.

But if there is one thing everyone knows about Brent, it’s that he doesn’t back down from a challenge. Just two days after surgery, he was singing again. While he still has obstacles ahead, his strength, determination, and passion have brought him nearly back to full singing power. His recovery has been nothing short of a blessing.

With Thanksgiving only days away, we want to take a moment to give our deepest gratitude to everyone who stood beside us through one of the hardest moments of our lives.

To our incredible neighbors who watched over our land, repaired our vehicles, made sure Anne got safely to work, and helped us with gas and food during the long hospital stay—thank you.

To my brother and his husband—thank you for helping our son fly down so he could be here with his dad when we needed him most.

To my parents and our neighbors—thank you for letting me fall apart when I needed to, for offering a shoulder to cry on, and for reminding me that we were not alone.

To our campers who stepped up to check other campers in, kept things running, and offered support—not just to us, but to one another—you are part of what makes Ka-Hoon truly special.

Although this chapter of our lives isn’t over and we still have challenges ahead, we want each and every one of you to know how much you mean to us. Your help, kindness, compassion, and love carried us through the darkest parts of this journey.

From our family, our crew, and everyone here at Ka-Hoon Campground and Plateau Hame de Colquhoun—
Thank you. Truly. Deeply. With all our hearts.

Caught on Camera: Mysteries of the West Mesa “Hiding”— What Was Hiding That Night? 👀🎃

Vault Video: Mysteries of the West Mesa “Hiding”— Halloween at Ka-Hoon Campground 🎃

In honor of Halloween (Samhain), we’re diving into our vault and sharing eerie stories from the desert — the *Mysteries of the West Mesa.*

One dark desert night, our dogs began barking wildly. Thinking it might just be the wind or wildlife, I let them out — but their behavior turned aggressive. Brent went to check things out, but couldn’t see anything in the darkness.

Curious, I pulled up the security camera footage — and what I saw made my heart race. There appeared to be a shadowy figure, possibly a person, hiding under the Greenroom. I immediately called out to Brent, who went to investigate, but when he arrived… nothing was there.

Was it a trick of the light, a traveler seeking shelter, or something beyond explanation? What do you think happened that night?

Join us **Saturday, November 1st** for a night of **dancing, bonfires, and intention setting** at Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center — a perfect time to release the old and welcome the new.

We Built Our First Solar Power System Off-Grid — Here’s What We Learned!

Learning Solar Power Off-Grid: Our First 3K EcoWorthy Solar Build*

When we first moved off-grid, we knew that solar power would be essential — but we didn’t know where to start. Building our first solar setup, a 3K EcoWorthy solar system, was definitely a learning curve. Neither of us had ever set up a solar array before, but with a little trial and error — and a few calls to a friend who had experience — we made it happen!

That first setup powered our essential equipment and helped us truly begin living independently in the desert. We quickly realized that solar wasn’t as complicated as it first seemed — just a matter of patience, problem-solving, and willingness to learn.

Every system since then has gotten better, stronger, and more efficient. We’ve come a long way since those first panels went up!

***In honor of our 5th anniversary on Saturday, October 18th, we’ll be hosting an Open Mic Night!***
Come in person, stay a few hours, camp a night (or longer), or join online from home on our **Colquhoun Entertainment TikTok** profile.
