Made it back home…its good to have a little sand back in our shoes. But you never know what happens when you’re away.

Our family lives off-grid here at Plateau Hame De Colquhoun. Since moving onto this vacant property in the desert last October, we’ve had learned and achieved so much.
We are working on building a bigger solar set up.
Have one container placed that we plan on turning into a library, studio.
We have a small building with a compost toilet.
Built communal Firepit
Figured out Water storage.
We have built a road that is big enough to accommodate big Rvs and trailers!
Our future plans
Get another container for kitchen and sitting area.
Compost gardens
Plant trees
Build an outdoor shower
Build stage off studio
Build deck top of container for even better views of the #riograndevalley!

Our last night in Minnesota we thought a stop here at #thelongdrivein in #LongPrairie would be fun. A last chance for friends and family meet up with us before heading back towards #newmexico.

Got the beast washed, oil changed and headed out a day early. Tomorrow we are planning on visiting few #route66 sights here in Santa Rosa New Mexico!

Slowly working our way back home up on the mesa #plateauhamedcolquhoun. We are now in a small RV park within Truth and Consequences. Dreugan 6 weeks old yesterday Feb 14th, and Anne working on school work. Later we’re hoping to go walk around down town and do some sight seeing, tomorrow we plan to go soak in the hot springs!

Been a busy week dealing with more wind damage, and Anniversary of our first picnic on the land a year ago. Before we made any plans of what we thought we’d need nor had any idea what it was going to be like living up here.
In the near future we are planning on making a major change to our set up in hopes of better protection from the elements. Stay tuned to our Wednesday videos and posts for updates!
Storm coming in, which means more winds..
We started this journey last January when we purchased the 5 acres we are living on now. We knew this journey wasn’t going to be easy but there are times we feel that things are going backwards instead of forwards. But once we get through those times we remember why we’re here and for what can be.

Today we had headed out to tour a local ghost town, though this wasn’t the ghost town we where looking for, this one turned out to be more interesting. The ruins are from Native American’s before the Spanish came to New Mexico. So we’re thinking 1700’s! Was well worth the trip, though info on the ruins been nice, we Google searched to fine info on them.

Today we went for a drive to see if we could find another way off the mesa. We did but this road is not small car friendly! Comment letting us know if you would try it! (Ignore Mel’s grammar “I don’t think there’s no way we can get down there”)
