So much has evolved since this video was made. We’ve completed many of our major projects, including the solar setup, library, music studio, and our beloved Greenroom. Some projects have been postponed or deemed unfeasible, but we continue to make strides on others, such as improving the shower facilities and establishing a reliable water delivery system.
It’s been a journey of adapting and growing, and we’re excited about the progress we’ve made and the future improvements ahead. Stay tuned for more updates!

Unveiling Our New Outdoor Kitchen: Name Our Scottish-Themed Space!
**Help Us Name Our New Outdoor Kitchen Area!**
For a while, we’ve been on the hunt for just the frame of a 10×10 canopy to cover the Colquhoun bar and cooking area within the Cahoots Courtyard. Recently, fate intervened when the winds destroyed the roof of a canopy belonging to one of our campers. They kindly asked if we had a use for the frame, and now we have exactly what we’ve been looking for!
We wanted just the frame to hang solar lights, which can be decorated for events or left as is. The frame alone is less likely to be affected by the New Mexico desert winds.
This area will serve as a spot for potlucks, a place for campers to prepare their food with a BBQ grill that can be rented, or even a spot to chill drinks in a cooler. It will be part of the Cahoots Courtyard and may not always be available for use by campers and event-goers while in use.
We need a name for this little “kitchen” area, and we want it to have a Scottish theme. So far, we’ve come up with Colquhoun Kitchen, Cahoots Kitchen, Highland Feasting Grounds, and Cahoots Grill. Let us know your thoughts or if you have any other creative suggestions!

Desert Monsoons and Music: A Day at Ka-Hoon Campground
**Embracing the New Mexico Desert Life**
Yesterday, we planned to start a new project, but with rain in the forecast, we decided to hold off. The project will take a few days to complete, and we don’t want it to get damaged by the weather. That’s why we’ve delayed starting and focused on other tasks instead. We spent some time in the studio, working on our next upcoming show. Later, we headed to the Greenroom with a few friends, hung out, and enjoyed leftovers from the Saturday night private gathering. It was a cooler day, which made it all the more enjoyable. Anne and Scar Kitty even decided to spy on my phone, which, of course, meant snapping a picture.
The monsoons have been hitting us nightly, cooling things off a bit, but also making the roads muddy. The yard flooded the night before, but the arid desert sand soaked it up by mid-morning. The rains have helped the weeds—mostly tumbleweeds and yucca with small clumps of grass—grow, which means we’ll have to do the dreaded mowing of the whole grounds soon. On the bright side, the campers stayed dry, and their tents remained undamaged.
That’s life in the New Mexico desert—it’s either hot, windy, or monsoons. Despite the challenges, there’s a unique charm to it that we wouldn’t trade for anything.

Rainy Day Fun at Ka-Hoon Campground: Music, Movies, and More!
**A Cozy Evening at Cahoots Courtyard**
Yesterday, we decided to take it easy after some light mowing in the morning to prepare for the private gathering in Cahoots Courtyard that evening. Before the event, a few campers and we spent the day relaxing and listening to Advocatus Diaboli perform some random songs, adding a delightful touch to our day.
Although the rain thwarted our plans to watch Rocky Horror Picture Show outside, we adapted quickly. We transformed the Greenroom into a cozy movie space, and everyone settled in for a snug, intimate viewing. Despite the weather, the evening turned out to be a wonderful experience, filled with laughter and camaraderie.
It’s these moments that make Ka-hoon Campground so special—bringing people together, rain or shine. Stay tuned for more adventures and updates from our little oasis in the desert.

Discover KaHoon Campground: Music, Events, and Desert Adventures Await!
**Today at Ka-hoon Campground: A Day of Rest and Preparation**
Today is one of those days when motivation is hard to come by. The weather is warm but slightly cooler than it has been the past few days. Yesterday was a town run day; we usually wait until later in the day to go, as it’s cooler when we get back. We managed to get a few things done in the morning, and after returning, we did our Thursday night live rehearsal—at least as much as we could before the incoming weather interrupted us.
Today, aside from catching up on a few emails, updating the website, and some social media posts, we haven’t accomplished much. I was slow with today’s post and video, unsure of what to share.
Things are quiet here at Ka-hoon Campground and Event Center. While we have some campers, it’s less busy compared to the past couple of months. This weekend, we’re hosting a small private gathering, but it doesn’t require much from us. Unfortunately, the recent rain has caused the tumbleweeds to grow, which means we need to tackle the dreaded mowing. However, we’re not rushing to do it since it’s mostly tumbleweeds along the edges and not much else.
Looking ahead, we have the Members Only weekend, followed by the Music in the Desert Saturday Talent Show and Karaoke on the second Saturday of August. After that, we’re excited for the Anime Cosplay Contest with Talent Show Karaoke, culminating in an evening of watching anime under the stars.
For now, we’ll enjoy the quiet and use this time to rest and prepare for the busy times ahead.

8 Years of Impact: Our Journey at the Environmental Education Center
It’s hard to believe that eight years ago today, we were helping out at the environmental education center, building a fence and mowing the area for a memorial garden. I miss seeing everyone who used to come out for those work weekends. Sitting around the fire, playing drums once the work was finished, created some of the best memories.
Reflecting on those times makes me feel a bit homesick, missing the camaraderie, the place, and our cozy cabin. The sense of community and purpose we shared was truly special, and it’s something I hold dear even as time goes by.
