Fan Spins Backward Then THIS Happens?! Mysteries of the West Mesa | Caught in the Desert đźŚµ

Vault Video: Mysteries of the West Mesa — “Sucked Off” | What Happened That Night?

Out here in the New Mexico desert, strange things can happen when you least expect them.

One May night, while lying in bed, the box fan in our window suddenly stopped… then began spinning backward. Almost instantly, we felt a strange pressure — as if the air itself was being sucked from the room.

Our first thought was that our solar system had gone out, but everything else was still on. Then, as Brent reached for the fan, it suddenly returned to normal — running like nothing had ever happened.

Thinking it might be a tornado, we ran outside only to find a clear, starlit sky. As we stood there trying to make sense of it, a group of military helicopters appeared out of nowhere, hovering over us for several seconds before heading north, disappearing into the night.

What do you think this was? A coincidence, an environmental anomaly, or something more mysterious?

Stay tuned for more episodes of **Mysteries of the West Mesa** — and don’t forget to share your thoughts in the comments!

Haunted Memories: Paranormal Experiences in the Desert and Beyond

**Haunted Memories: Paranormal Experiences in the Desert and Beyond**

Living in a remote desert area where no one has lived before, you wouldn’t expect to encounter paranormal activity—but strangely enough, we’ve experienced it. You can catch some of our stories on our *Mysteries of the West Mesa* series, where we document the unexplained events we’ve encountered. However, today I want to share more about the eerie happenings from my childhood home—a place that seems to hold onto its secrets long after we moved away.

Growing up in rural Central Minnesota, our family lived on an old farmstead that seemed alive with unexplained activity. Objects would frequently disappear, only to reappear minutes later in places we’d already checked. It wasn’t uncommon to see someone standing in the upstairs windows while we were outside, even though no one was inside the house.

The barn, which had caved in before we moved there, seemed to carry its own energy. We reused some of the old barn wood to rebuild a new one and make repairs around the house. But it was the new barn that became a hotspot for activity.

I vividly remember one evening when my mom was finishing up milking. She’d asked me to load the dishwasher, but being a typical teenager, I procrastinated. The house was about 200 feet from the barn, with the well house in between. While I was checking to see if my mom was in the milk house, I saw what looked like a man running from the barn toward the well house. As quickly as he appeared, he vanished.

To this day, I can still picture the figure in my mind. I didn’t tell my parents about what I’d seen until years later, after we’d moved off the farm. When I finally shared my story, I was shocked to learn I wasn’t alone—my siblings had also seen the same male apparition.

We left the farm in 1992, but the house hasn’t left us. Over the years, I’ve had countless dreams of the house calling me back, almost as if it’s trying to reach out. What’s even stranger is that my parents and siblings have had similar dreams. It’s as though the house still holds a part of us, whispering for our return.

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if we went back. Would the spirits still be there? Would the house still feel alive? Or would we find peace in finally facing the past?

Exploring Paranormal Encounters in the Desert: Mysteries of the West Mesa

As someone who loves the paranormal, I’ve had my fair share of experiences that can’t be explained, and if you know me, you’ve probably heard of the paranormal group I founded—Midnite Walkers Paranormal Research. Our motto was “Debunk the Junk, search for truth.” I eventually stepped away from the field when investigations began to rely on equipment that, in my view, distorted the process. We aimed to block radio waves when capturing EVPs, to prevent interference, but the direction of the field shifted, and I moved on.

Yet, my passion for the paranormal remains strong. Over the years, I’ve experienced events that defy explanation, such as the time when two people were pushed to the ground simultaneously. Since moving out to the desert—an area with little recorded history and where no one has lived before—we’ve encountered even more strange happenings. It’s made me eager to set up equipment again and see what might be captured here.

Here are a few examples. One night, while Anne and I were inside the RV, we noticed the door slowly creeping open and then just as slowly closing. Thinking it was Brent messing with us, I stepped outside to check, but he was still in the studio, and our weather station showed no indication of wind. Another experience involved an empty lawn chair at a campfire. As I shared a story about a Native hunter who never returned home, a white cat (at the time, we didn’t have any cats) suddenly ran under the empty chair and paused before moving on.

These are just a few of the unexplained events we’ve encountered. Some of them have been featured in our *Mysteries of the West Mesa* videos. If you have any local knowledge about the history of this area, I’d love to hear it. And for fellow paranormal enthusiasts, let me know what you think of these experiences!

Happy Halloween from all of us here at Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center!
