**Desert Weather Challenges: Wind, Cold, and Staying Prepared**
Over the past few days, the **weather forecast** predicted **high winds** and **cold temperatures**. We made sure to **notify our members and campers** about the potential weather conditions so everyone could be prepared.
Fortunately, the winds didn’t hit as hard as predicted, but we still experienced **strong gusts**—enough to send **tumbleweeds rolling** across the campground. Along with the winds came **cold temperatures**, but we managed to **stay warm inside**, even after **turning off the heat overnight**.
### **Clouds, Cold, and the Chance of Snow**
The changing weather also brought in **cloud cover** and the **possibility of snow**, leaving us **limited on outdoor activities** for now. Living **off-grid** means always keeping an eye on the weather and being ready to **adjust plans** when conditions change.
### **Staying Prepared**
While the weather can be unpredictable, having a **warm and cozy space** to retreat to makes all the difference. Whether it’s **wind, snow, or cold**, we’re always prepared to **weather the storm** and make the most of life **off-grid**.
Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to **navigate off-grid living challenges** and share tips for **staying prepared in any weather**!

5 Years Off-Grid – Building Dreams at Ka-Hoon Campground in the Desert
Celebrating 5 Years at Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center – A Desert Dream Realized

January 3rd marks the 5-year anniversary of purchasing our land—a milestone that reminds us just how far we’ve come. What started as a dream to create a peaceful getaway, far removed from the noise and chaos of daily life, has blossomed into a haven for nature lovers, adventurers, and those simply seeking a place to be themselves.
A Vision Turned Reality

When we first set eyes on this land, we had no idea how or when we’d bring our vision to life. We wanted more than just a campground—we dreamed of a place where visitors could truly connect with nature, find serenity, and embrace community. Now, after years of dedication and hard work, the land is ready to welcome those looking for a break from the ordinary.
Ka-Hoon Campground isn’t just about pitching a tent for a quick overnight stay—it’s about experiencing the desert’s raw beauty, hiking the rugged terrain, gathering around campfires, and enjoying peaceful solitude. Whether guests seek community or privacy, we’ve designed the space to offer both.
Challenges Along the Way

Of course, no journey is without its challenges. One of our biggest hurdles has been the roads leading out here. To preserve the tranquility and privacy we envisioned, the campground had to be off the beaten path—and that means navigating 11 miles of washboard dirt roads with narrow passages and dips.
We’ve gone to great lengths to prepare visitors for this adventure. From bold warnings on our website, highlighted boxes, and detailed descriptions to videos showcasing the roads, we strive to ensure everyone knows what to expect. Despite these efforts, we still get calls and messages from guests who feel blindsided.
The website description itself reads:
“Accessible via 11 miles of dirt roads, the journey to Ka-Hoon is an adventure in itself, with narrow passages and dips adding to the thrill.”
Yet, we understand that sometimes excitement overshadows preparation, and guests may overlook the warnings. While we do our best to clarify expectations, we also appreciate the adventurous spirits who embrace the journey and see it as part of the experience.
Looking to the Future

As we reflect on the past five years, we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built. Ka-Hoon Campground continues to evolve, welcoming a variety of guests—from those seeking a quiet escape to others simply passing through for safety and shelter.
While we didn’t originally expect so many one-night stays, we’re honored to provide a safe, welcoming space for everyone who needs it. Whether guests stay for a night or a week, we hope they leave with a sense of peace and connection to the land.
Thank You for Being Part of Our Journey

We want to thank everyone who has supported us over the past five years—our guests, members, and those who’ve embraced the rugged adventure of reaching our desert sanctuary. We look forward to many more years of growth, new faces, and unforgettable memories.
If you’re ready to experience the beauty and serenity of Ka-Hoon Campground, visit our website and start planning your adventure today!

From Rescue to Family – Life with Our Off-Grid Dogs and Their Incredible Journeys!
Life with Our Furry Family – Weillow, Dreugan, and Vibria
At **Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center**, our furry companions are more than just pets—they’re family. Over the years, we’ve opened our hearts and home to dogs with unique stories, personalities, and challenges. Today, we’d like to share a little more about **Weillow, Dreugan, and Vibria**—three very special members of our pack.
### **Weillow – The Survivor**
Weillow, our **14-year-old Lab mix**, has been with us since she was just **8 weeks old**. When I rescued her, she was **half-starved, terrified, and withdrawn**. Unlike most puppies, Weillow didn’t know how to play or even try. It took a lot of time, patience, and love to help her open up and trust again.
Watching Weillow grow into the loyal and loving dog she is today has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Despite her tough start, she’s been an incredible companion and has shown us what resilience truly looks like.
### **Dreugan – The Protector**
Dreugan, who turns **4 years old on January 1**, is a **Husky-Rottweiler mix**. We found him through a Facebook post about puppies, and Brent decided to surprise me with one for my birthday after we learned that Weillow had cancer.
When we arrived, there were only **two puppies left**. One was outgoing and curious, but the other was shy, hiding, and even nipped at the breeder. Naturally, I gravitated toward the shy one—I knew he’d need extra care and patience, and I wanted to make sure he ended up in the right home.
At only **4 weeks old**, Dreugan was too young to leave his litter, but we knew we had to give him a chance. Raising him hasn’t been easy—he’s **strong, vocal, and has anxiety**. He’s dragged me across parking lots, broken my finger, and even bitten me once (accidentally). But despite the challenges, he’s become an amazing dog—**protective, sensitive, and incredibly loyal**.
Unfortunately, Dreugan has had **five encounters with loose or aggressive dogs**—one even climbed into our car and attacked him. While he’s never started a fight, these incidents have made him **reactive** toward other dogs. We continue to work with him on building trust and confidence, but his journey has taught us a lot about patience and understanding.
### **Vibria – The Rising Star**
Our newest addition, **Vibria**, is a **6-month-old pup** who we think might be a **Heeler mix**. She’s still growing into her personality, but one thing is clear—she’s **smart, quick to learn, and full of energy**.
We’re excited to see how Vibria continues to develop and fit into our off-grid life. She’s already proven to be curious and adventurous, and we can’t wait to watch her personality unfold as she grows.
### **Lessons from Our Dogs**
Living off-grid in the desert brings its challenges, and having dogs here isn’t always easy. But it also brings incredible rewards. Each of our dogs has taught us something valuable—**resilience, patience, loyalty, and trust**. They remind us daily that love and understanding can transform even the most fearful and reactive dogs into happy, confident companions.
If you’re considering adopting or rescuing a dog, we encourage you to be patient and prepared for the challenges, but know that the rewards far outweigh the struggles.
Follow our journey with **Weillow, Dreugan, and Vibria**—and stay updated on life at **Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center**!

Living Off-Grid in the Desert – Embracing Nature and Community

Life in the desert, off-grid, is a unique and often challenging experience. It’s not for everyone, but for those who choose it, the rewards can be immeasurable. Out here, you encounter all kinds of people—some who embrace the lifestyle, some who want solitude, others who have no other option, and even a few who seem to be running from something.

Why We Chose Desert Life
For us, living off-grid wasn’t a last resort—it was a conscious choice. Sure, the affordable land was a big draw, but more than that, we believe in living closer to nature and respecting the earth. We’re not necessarily what you’d call tree huggers, but we do appreciate the balance and beauty of the natural world.
We’re also not vegans or vegetarians—I’ll take a good slab of meat any day—but we respect those who choose those lifestyles for their own reasons. Everyone has the right to live according to their beliefs, and we don’t judge. Out here, you quickly learn that acceptance and mutual respect go a long way.

Meeting People Off-Grid
One of the most interesting parts of desert living is the variety of people you meet. Some are out here because they love the solitude, others enjoy building a small community, and some are simply trying to survive. Then there are those who find themselves completely out of their element, struggling to adapt.
Not everyone is easy to welcome, though. Some prefer to keep to themselves, and that’s fine. Others thrive on connection and community, enjoying shared meals, campfires, and conversations under the stars. And, of course, there are a few you wish you’d never crossed paths with—just like anywhere else.

Finding Balance in Desert Living
Living off-grid means learning how to balance independence with connection. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it. Out here, the lines between friend and stranger can blur, and you have to trust your instincts while keeping an open mind.
The desert may be desolate, but it has a way of revealing truths—about others and about yourself. It forces you to appreciate the simple things, respect the elements, and find joy in small victories, whether it’s starting a fire, fixing a water pump, or sharing a laugh with a neighbor.

Final Thoughts
For us, desert living isn’t just about surviving—it’s about thriving in an environment that challenges you and rewards you in equal measure. It’s about respect for nature, building community, and embracing the unexpected.
So, whether you’re visiting, curious about off-grid life, or considering making the move yourself, remember that the desert has a lot to teach—about resilience, respect, and the beauty of living simply.

Life in the New Mexico Desert: Embrace the Unique at Ka-Hoon Campground & Advocatus Diaboli’s Shows!
Living in the New Mexico desert brings a unique, peaceful lifestyle that my family and I cherish. Unlike those seeking attention, you won’t often see me in our videos—we love to share our adventures but prefer to keep our lives private. Yet, many have asked to know more about who we are. So here’s a glimpse: we’re simply people who care, who appreciate the unusual and mysterious. We love ghost stories, aliens, even a few conspiracies. Halloween is our favorite time of year, and our collection of weird and symbolic objects reflects our love for the strange. We aren’t religious, but we are deeply spiritual.
Living off-grid in the desert has brought its challenges, not just from nature but also from misunderstandings about who we are. People have told us we “live in the gray area” or “outside the box,” and we don’t disagree. We keep our minds open and welcome anyone who comes to us with respect. However, this openness has been tested. We’ve had to learn the hard way that not everyone truly needs help—some people just want to take advantage. And while we love to lend a hand, we now do so carefully, knowing we can’t afford to be used.
Our values are simple: honesty, respect, and a nonjudgmental approach. But we’re also protective of what matters to us—our family, friends, and beliefs. As much as we strive to stay open-minded, there are times we need to assess others’ intentions. It’s not always easy to live without some judgment when we’ve had visitors attempt to “dig up dirt” on us. The truth is, there’s nothing to hide; we are who we are, but we’ll still defend our boundaries when necessary.
Unfortunately, we’ve also had our share of rumors and negativity directed our way, which has been a difficult pill to swallow. I’m a sensitive person, and these false stories do hurt. I know that even bad publicity can bring awareness, but it doesn’t make it any easier to hear. Living out here has taught us to stay true to ourselves and focus on what truly matters: a life of freedom, mystery, and respect.

Ka-Hoon Campground: A Desert Oasis for Unique Living & Off-Grid Adventures in New Mexico
**Finding Strength and Staying True: Lessons from Living Off-Grid in the New Mexico Desert**
Every day, we try to share inspiring moments from our life here in the New Mexico desert. But the reality is, not everything is perfect, and sometimes, things can be incredibly challenging. Living off-grid has brought both incredible rewards and tough moments, and while we don’t often open up about our private struggles, we know they’re part of this journey too.
When we moved out here, we expected challenges, but it’s been harder than we imagined. We’ve faced setbacks and at times even felt like walking away. Growing up in a tough environment taught me resilience. My family didn’t have much, but we made do, even in houses that barely kept the elements out. My parents worked hard to give us what they could, and they never gave up. That upbringing has given me the grit to survive and thrive here in the desert, to appreciate the simple things, and to push through when life gets tough.
### Building Inner Strength: A New Chapter in the Desert
One of the most surprising challenges out here hasn’t come from nature, but from dealing with people who are quick to judge, criticize, or put others down. Growing up poor, I know what it feels like to be ridiculed for being different. I was teased, tormented, and belittled for things beyond my control, and it left me feeling like I needed to hide who I was.
Moving here has taught me to stand up for myself and embrace who I am. It’s helped me find a voice to speak out against judgment, whether it’s against those who are different or against those who simply don’t fit into society’s mold. It’s shown me that not everyone is like the bullies I once faced, and that there are people out there who truly accept others for who they are.
### Embracing Differences and Respecting Each Other
Living off-grid, close to nature, has reminded me of a simple truth: we’re all part of nature, not above it. I care deeply about people and feel strongly that no one should be judged for simply being who they are. So often, people focus on others’ differences—whether it’s religion, lifestyle, financial status, or anything else. But why judge? If it doesn’t harm you or your life, why let it matter so much?
Ask yourself: Does someone else’s way of life really affect you? If not, maybe it’s time to let go of those judgments and let people live as they are. This journey off-grid has taught me to embrace life in all its diversity, and to welcome the differences that make us all unique.

Vibria’s Desert Adventures: Growing Up Off-Grid in New Mexico and Learning the Ropes
Vibria’s Desert Adventures: Growing Up Off-Grid in New Mexico
Life off-grid in New Mexico comes with its unique set of challenges, and raising a puppy like Vibria adds a whole new layer to the adventure! Our little rescue pup is growing fast, learning daily, and making big strides in potty training. She’s definitely in her “push boundaries” stage, exploring everything she can find. But all things considered (knock on wood), she’s not too mischievous—just a spirited pup enjoying her new desert life.
Living in the arid New Mexican desert, water is a precious commodity, yet Vibria doesn’t seem to mind tipping over her water dishes at every opportunity. And while her energy is a joy to watch, there’s a bit of caution needed. Vibria is small enough to slip through the fence, and with the presence of coyotes and large birds of prey, keeping her safe is our priority. For now, we have her tied up in a way that lets her play with the other dogs and explore a bit, with supervised time outside the fenced area when we’re around.
Every day with Vibria is a new adventure. Watching her grow and adapt to the desert lifestyle—learning her boundaries while exploring her independence—has been a joy. Soon enough, she’ll be big enough to roam more freely, and until then, we’re cherishing every moment of her puppyhood and her spirit for desert life.

*”Warm hearts and cozy paws, even the smallest bundles can bring the greatest joy.”*
There’s nothing quite like the love of a puppy, and for us, that bundle of joy is Vibria. Living off-grid in the New Mexico desert comes with its challenges, but having a playful, fearless puppy like Vibria makes it all the more rewarding.
#### Vibria’s Off-Grid Adventure
Vibria may be small, but she’s full of life. As we navigate life off-grid, she’s right there with us, embracing the freedom of wide-open spaces. There’s something magical about watching her run around with the sun setting over the desert, completely unfazed by the rugged terrain. From her tiny paws padding across the sandy ground to her excited barks echoing in the vast wilderness, Vibria has adapted beautifully to her new environment.
#### The Joy of Living Off-Grid with a Puppy
Life off-grid means no bustling city noises, just the quiet hum of nature. It’s a simple, peaceful existence that suits Vibria’s adventurous spirit. Every day, we’re reminded that the greatest joys in life often come in the smallest, furriest packages.
Whether she’s wrapped in a blanket for a cozy nap after a day of play or exploring the land around us, Vibria brings warmth and comfort to our lives, proving that even in the most remote locations, love and companionship can thrive.
#### Lessons from Vibria
Vibria has taught us a lot about resilience and adaptability. Despite the challenges of living off-grid, she’s unbothered, always ready to explore and enjoy each moment. Her enthusiasm for life is contagious, reminding us to find joy in the simple things.
If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to live off-grid with a puppy, Vibria is the perfect example of how even in the most unexpected places, love, and happiness can flourish. In her, we’ve found a constant source of joy, reminding us daily that no matter where we are, home is where the heart—and the paws—are.
