Ka-Hoon Campground is a desert retreat located 42 miles from Albuquerque, New Mexico. It offers a peaceful escape with scenic trails, stargazing, and campfire relaxation. The campground is accessible via 11 miles of dirt roads and welcomes families, pets, horses, and ATVs.

The campground is 13 miles from Loves Truck Stop and 15 miles from Walmart. Follow exit 191 off I-25 in Belen, NM, and drive 11 miles down gravel roads. For detailed directions, visit our website.

Yes, the dirt roads are passable for most vehicles, though they may be narrow and uneven.

๐Ÿ•๏ธ What types of camping are available?
We offer various options including RV sites, tent camping, and van parking. You can choose from dispersed sites for privacy or pull-through/back-in sites for convenience.

Book your stay at $12.00 per night through our booking platforms found here, or contact us via text, email, or phone. Check our event page for any scheduled activities before booking.

๐ŸŽŸ๏ธ Are there any discounts available?
Members of the General Nathan Twinning Observatory or Stargazerz Photographer receive discounts. Join our membership program for $3.50 a month to get one free night of camping and enjoy additional perks. Contact us for more details.

๐Ÿ  What are the long-term stay policies?
We only allow long-term stays in 21-day increments. We recommend booking a 7 to 10-day stay initially to ensure it meets your needs before committing to a longer period.

๐ŸŽ‰ Can I host an event at Ka-Hoon Campground?
Yes, you can rent our property for events such as live performances or DJ sets. We offer sound and light packages to enhance your event. For more information, click here.

๐Ÿšฟ Are there shower facilities?
Shower facilities are coming soon. Currently, we offer a camping toilet by request and ask that you sanitize it after use.

๐Ÿด What amenities are available?

  • Compost Toilet โ€œThe Hutโ€: Eco-friendly restroom.
  • Communal Fire Pit โ€œThe Hearthโ€: Gather for campfire evenings.
  • The Bothy Kitchen: Outdoor kitchen for meal preparation, potlucks, and bar gatherings. BBQ charcoal grill available for $20.00 per night (charcoal not included), with a $10.00 refund upon return. No pets allowed in this area.
  • Cellphone Charging Station: Available by request.
  • Stargazing: Enjoy clear desert skies.
  • On-site Souvenir Store โ€œDusty Nailโ€: Take home a piece of Ka-Hoon.

๐Ÿด Can I bring my horse?
Yes, horses are welcome. Please clean up after them.

Yes, photographers are welcome to capture the beauty of the desert landscape.

๐Ÿพ Are pets allowed?
Pets are welcome, but please clean up after them. They must be leashed outside your campsite area. No pets allowed by the Hut, or Bothy Kitchen areas.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธ What should I know about the property?
Guests have access to the entire property except for the hostโ€™s personal space and other campers’ sites. Be prepared for unpredictable weather and rough dirt roads. Take out all your trash and respect fellow campers’ privacy.

โณ What is the cancellation policy?
No refunds are available within 72 hours of your scheduled stay. Same-day reservations are non-refundable, but transfers to another date may be possible upon request.
