When Cattle Become Doorbell Experts
Out here at Ka-Hoon Campground and Event Center, life in the desert isn’t just about sunsets, campfires, or music under the stars. Sometimes, it’s about cows… ringing the Blink Video Doorbell.
Yes, you read that right. Cows. Ringing our doorbell.
The Midnight Cow Visitors
The doorbell was installed for campers needing help or assistance. But sometimes, it rings late at night… and when we check the camera, it’s not a human.
It’s a cow. Or sometimes a calf. Occasionally even a bull. They push, bump, or lick the doorbell like they’re testing it out.
Apparently, our herd has decided that this blinking button is the most fascinating object in the desert.
Years of Hilarious Encounters
This isn’t a one-time event. We’ve captured multiple videos over the years of different cows ringing the doorbell. No two encounters are ever the same.
It’s become a part of desert life — unexpected, hilarious, and honestly, kind of adorable.
Why It’s a Reminder About Free-Range Life
Living in an open-range area comes with perks… and surprises. Sharing land with cattle means sometimes things get knocked over, sometimes footsteps are heavy, and sometimes… cows ring your doorbell.
It’s all part of the adventure, and it makes life at Ka-Hoon Campground unforgettable.

We have to ask…
If a cow rang your doorbell in the middle of the desert:
🐄 Would you answer it?
🐄 Offer it a snack?
🐄 Invite it to the next Music in the Desert show?
